when i try to play the game i get the error message "cannot initialize engine please check direct3d or driver" ive already tried updating directx and my driver. im not sure how to tell wether my videocard meets the requirements but im assuming its that since everything else seems to. here are the system requirements for the game.
Operating System: Windows Vista or Windows 7
CPU / Processor: Core 2 Duo processor with 2.4Ghz or higher
RAM / Memory: 2 GB
Storage / Hard Drive: 10 GB of free hard drive space
Video Card: nVidia 8600 GT or higher (comparison chart)
Internet Conntection:
Broadband Internet Connection required

Here are the current recommended PC system requirements to run Dragon's Prophet:
Operating System: Windows Vista or Windows 7
CPU / Processor: i5 2400 or higher
RAM / Memory: 4 GB
Storage / Hard Drive: 10 GB of free hard drive space
Video Card: nVidia 560 TI or higher (comparison chart)
Internet Conntection: Broadband Internet Connection required

this is my computer.
windows vista home premium
intel core quad cpu Q6700 @ 2.66 GHZ
ram 6gb
intel g33/g31 express chipset family.

so if i get this nvidea 8600 will i be able to play the game or is there some other issue that i could possibly solve without spending money

Yes, it's your graphics card. The thing is.. Intel dumped a huge amount of their "cheap" integrated graphics cards on the market that are only good for browsing websites or playing very simple Windows Games like Solitaire. If you want to play 3D games, then you must have a more powerful card.

To give you an idea... an NVidia 8400 card is around $30 and it's sort of like an entry level card.

Best Buy has:

NVidia GT520 for $40

or

ATI 5450 for $40

Both cards will work... that's about the best price you're going to get from a retail store unless you have a Fry's Electronics near you. You can also order online, which will give you a lower price and a better card. Here is a listing of card from my personal favorite place, Newegg.com:

Don't worry, pretty much any one of them will work. You just need to verify that that the slot inside your computer uses PCI-Express x16. If you have an older computer, then you will need to get a card that has either AGP or the much, much older PCI. You didn't specify the name and model or your computer or the motherboard model.. so I have no way of knowing which slot... but if your computer is within a 3 years old.. it uses the newer one.

All you must do to reply that question, is go to Gencon, or atleast seem at the internet site, and notice the photos of the event. You're going to see the scope of how many individuals play the sport, it has even now turn out to be a little extra today's in hollywood, because of some stars that admit taking part in the sport. Its has grown from leaps and bounds it continually haves its intervals, approach it seems like you cant in finding players,..But then all of a sudden while you turn the corner, wearing a D&D conference t-shirt,..You hear the voice, from some one,..Hey do you play?
