Pokemon Platinum/Diamond/Pearl Nintendo DS Question?

I wanted to get this game, but I dont have a pen for my Ds. Is this like Heartgold/SouldSilver where you can access the items/backpack on the button screen with EX: hit X or Y and it will go down and enable me to click on the items on the bottom/touch screen? I know I can just touch the screen with a pen/pencil/ or even my finger, but Im curious. Thanks!

Actually, the stylus (official name for the pen) is less used on Platinum or on Diamond/Pearl. I have seen that on HGSS, they added a lot more stuff that makes use of the Stylus, but on DPP, it's barely even used (except for the Pokétch).

Yes, it is. The only places in Diamond, Pearl and Platinum that you really need to do a lot of Touch Screen action with your Stylus is the Intro when you have to touch the PokéBall icon when Professor Rowan tells you to, Contests and the Underground. Contests aren't necessary to participate in them, they're just a fun thing to do if you want to do them but they're not a requirement.

You rarely need the pen... I never touched it for Platinum/Diamond/Pearl let alone Heartgold/SoulSilver. I do it from time to time because I just don't want to press A or B and stuff.

Well no when they made hg/ss they made the touch screen used more in it but the most u do wit the pen is select your pokemons attack and When you are in your bag but you can use your dpad most of the time



But you can buy yourself a new ds pen at your local gamestop or radioshack

Yes its the same. The only thing u might need the pen for is when you're using the item finder.
