I've been playing Pokemon RBY lately, because I lost my old Mewtwo somewhere and I wanted another one. I was wondering if anybody knows what Mewtwo's max stats are when caught at lvl 70? I realize the odds of catching one with all max IVs is pretty ridiculous, but I at least need some numbers for comparison so I know whether or not the one I've caught is close enough to bother keeping. I'm still pretty new to all this EV, IV, and DV stuff, I never really worried about it when I was younger, so I don't really understand it very well, but it sounds pretty complex.

Anyway, I just want to catch a gen. 1 Mewtwo with the best stats I can find.

- "It sounds pretty complex" = you probably don't know much so I will teach you all the basics.

= To answer your question, use this calculator http://www.psypokes.com/gsc/dv.php = When you catch a pokemon it starts off with zero EV so make sure it's set to none and make sure you set the mewtwo's level to 70, then you input the stats of the Mewtwo you just caught and it will calculate it's IV for you.

= If you wanted to answer without the link: Level 70 Mewtwo with 15 IV in each stat (with no EV in each stat) = 249 in HP, 180 in Attack, 152 in Defense, 208 for Speed, 241 in Special Attack and 241 in Special Defense for generation I games (152 in Special Defense for generation II games).

= Your probably going to teach mewtwo recover+psychic+blizzard+thunderbolt in generation I or switch over blizzard with ice beam or flamethrower/fireblast for generation II = no need to have high IV for attack, just needs to be odd so you get HP IV.



Pokemon games by generation (non english versions like japanese versions are not included).

- Generation I = Red, Blue, Yellow. Generation II = Silver, Gold, Crystal. Generation III = Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, and FireRed, LeafGreen. Generation IV = Pearl, Diamond, Platinum, and SoulSilver, HeartGold. Generation V = Black, White.



= First, I should explain individual values (IV) for generation I+II pokemon games (also may be called determinant or diversification values = DV).

- IV's are like a pokemon's genes. A pokemon can have a IV in each stat that ranges from 0 to 15.

- Each IV in a stat is +2 stat points in that stat. Example: 15 IV in defense = +30 stat points to defense stat OR Example: 5 IV in defense = +10 stat points to defense stat.

- When you encounter a wild/catchable pokemon, these four stats randomly assign a IV to attack, defense, speed, and special (both special attack and special defense are shared, meaning if special attack has a IV of 15, so will special defense). HP IV is determined by the other four stats, odd number IV's in attack add 8 IV to HP, defense adds 4 IV, speed adds 2 IV, special adds 1 IV.

- Shiny pokemon only have IV of 2, 3, 6, 7, 10, 11, 14, or 15 for attack, and IV of 0 or 8 for HP, and 10 IV's for defense, speed, and special.

- Without using cheating devices like gameshark or action replay or pokesav, the best way to find a pokemon with good IV's is to soft reset your game. (Soft-resetting is to push the start, select, R, and L buttons at the same time so you can restart the game from the last save faster without the need for turning on/off the power = if you don't find a pokemon with good IV's, soft reset and try again. IV's are still generated at random).

Second I will explain effort values (EV) for generation I+II pokemon games (also may be called stat experience).

- A pokemon just caught will have 0 EV in every stat. When you defeat a pokemon, it's base stats in every stat are converted to EV in every corresponding stat. Example: Mew has a base stat of 100 in every five stats, when you defeat a mew those 100's count as EV in each of your 5 stats.

- Each five stats can have a maximum EV of 65535 and all stats can have max EV (Special EV's are shared. For generation II the amount of Special EV's received is equal to the defeated pokémon's special attack base stat).

- How to calculate EV, Example: 65535 EV in a stat and square root that number and that equals about 255, then you divide 255 by 4 and that equals about +63 stat points to that stat that has 65535 EV.

- EV are calculated every time you level up, you will not see all your EV until your reach level 100. If a pokemon reaches level 100, but does not have max EV in a stat, that's fine because in pokemon generation I+II games you can still EV train it then use the box trick to recalculate the stats (Box trick = deposit pokemon into pc then withdraw it).

- Vitamins add 2560 EV to one stat. You can give each stat a maximum of 10 vitamins (25600 EV). Vitamins are useful for speeding up the EV training. Rare candy's may level up your pokemon but rare candy's give no EV. Pokérus, a rare status ailmen (a virus) which doubles the effort points gained in battle which speeds up EV training for generation II games. Exp.Share did not share effort values for both generation I+II pokemon games.

- The baby inherits its IV's from the parent of the opposite gender, unless one parent is Ditto and in that case it inherits the IV's from Ditto. The defense IV is passed, and also either the special IV or the special IV plus or minus 8 (plus for values in the 0-7 range; minus for values in the 8-15 range); the special IV has a 50% chance of remaining the same. Attack and speed IVs are determined entirely at random, whereas HP is determined by the IVs of the other four stats, using the same formula for wild Pokémon. The probability of a Pokémon inheriting all of its opposite-gender parent's IVs is therefore 1/512. (Shiny parent have 1/64 chance).

- There is a transform glitch for getting shiny ditto's. There is also a old man glitch for getting infinite items. There is also a ditto glitch to catch any pokemon in the game (you can also do mew glitch which is done similar to ditto glitch).ect

If you have pokemon stadium 1 or pokemon stadium 2 on the nintendo 64 and use the transfer pack, you can play pokemon gamboy games on the tv.

- If you beat round 1, you can play the gameboy games at twice the speed. If you beat round 2, you can play the gameboy games at triple (or maybe it's quad) speed.

- For genertaion II games, you do have to defeat the elite four on your gameboy game before being able to use the increased speed modes.

= The gameboy games have internal batteries in them, when they die, you cannot hold a save anymore. So it's better to store your pokemon on the pokemon stadium games which use eeprom/flash memory (or store them on a mega memory card for the gameboy).

= You can also store items too (you cannot put items from gen I to gen II games tho), that's fine because generation II games they got the clone glitch for duplicating pokemon and items, or if you breed you can get pokemon with tm moves back.
