I was playing CoD4 single player campaign on my computer and it gets laggy when im in an opened field.
My specs:
2.4 Ghz dual core processor
2 gigs of RAM
Nvidia 7200 graphics card (crap)
250gb hard drive space
was the lag the result of insufficient RAM or was it the card?

“Recommended Specs”
CPU: 2.4 GHz dual core
RAM: 1GB for XP; 2GB for Vista is recommended
Video card: 3.0 Shader Support recommended. Nvidia Geforce 7800 or better or ATI Radeon X1800 or better
I'd say that it appears so, you can always try turning down some of your graphic settings

sometimes
ah yeah 7200. thats the slower 7000 seris card. For nvidia cards the the first number refers to the series and the second refers to the speed of that card. usually they have the 200, 600 and 800.
the 200 are barely good for games mostly for last gen games and movies.
the 600 is the mid range card you can play the newest game good but not great.
then the 800 which will let you play the newest games almost perfectly and at higher resolutions which speacial graphic features like antialias and anti stropic filtering on.
So yeah if your into gaming at least get the mid range card 7600 8600 9600 or new 260.

Most likely it is your VGA, I would suggest at a minimum an 8800gt if you can still find one or 9800 gtx+ (Newegg.com)
The other possible issue is what programs are running in the back ground using up your ram? Go to Start/Run type msconfig go to services tab hide all microsoft services and see what is running disable any that you don't really need also you can do that on the start up tab which will help with your boot speed. Are you using the highest speed ram for your mobo? can you fit two more 512 sticks giving you a total of 3gb.(I assume you are running xp so 3gb is more or less the max you can run unless you have vista you can get up to 8gb)

I have 2GB ram in my tower and the game runs fine on my ati x1900 and amd FX-60 2.6 dual-core. I would say that it just may be your video card although it could be of several factors. Latencies caused by your video card, processor, or even your hard drive to read from can all add up to prove a sluggish experience. A minimum 7200 rpm hard drive is recommended for gamimg

Could be the RAM, but sometimes the poor quality of a graphics card can effect the amount of lag as well.

that is totally uncommon that somebody could purchase a CPU which will carry back the pics calculations to the GPU. i could opt to ask one question nevertheless. Is your processor element of the hot AMD Bulldozer shape? Or is it element of the FX sequence? if so, those CPUs are susceptible for gaming. the concepts-blowing notch FX-8150 can no longer even nudge previous the Intel i5-3570K in gaming. So, or no longer that's the CPU in case your above answer became particular. If no longer, there is basically too lots stuff going on on your GPU or RAM to deal with.
