I have had an xbox pretty much since it came out. I've loved it ever since. Is it weird to want a ps3 for christmas instead of a 360? I love halo and gears and left for dead (from playing them at friends houses) but the ps3 has way better online and more features. I just think it's a little weird to like switch from being an xbox player to getting a ps3 instead of the 360

I own about 30 systems. To think its weird to like one and then go with another one is a bit short sighted. You play games for the games and not the system. You buy what you want and damn anyone who says otherwise. Dont worry about a products name or logo. There is no such thing as a xbox player or a ps3 player, anyone who says they are are just fanboys. When someone asks me what I play, I tell them I play games.

This message is coming from a guy who owns and plays both systems as well as 27 other ones and been playing for 30 years. I am a fanboy of no system so I’m telling you straight because I play games for the games themselves, I don’t play because of a name on the system itself.

Sony recently dropped the ps3 price to 299. I will compare it to a 360 elite since its microsofts highest end 360 system and is priced the same as the ps3.

Ps3 has built in included wifi connection for wireless internet, the 360 does not. It will cost you another 100 bucks to buy an addon for the 360 to get wifi. (do note ps3 also includes ethernet for a wired internet connection also so you get both).

Ps3 has bluetooth and usb ports for flash drives, keyboard, mice, microphones, headsets, earpieces and so on, the 360 has neither nor can you add them on.

Ps3 has 100% free online gaming, the 360 charges you a annual fee to play any game online or even have a friends list. Ps3 also has something called Home which is 100% free and optional to use where you make a character and run through a virtual world with other people, chat, check out themed areas like a resident evil 5 area with mini games, trailers playing on big screens, an apartment you get to own and decorate and its constantly being added onto. Think of Home as kind of like The Sims only it a city about games only it has alot of other people in it also with you. I also prefer to ps3 community, 90% of the time I get on xbox live all I hear are a bunch of immature brats cursing and yelling.

Ps3 can play blu ray high def movies and has a really good upconvert on dvds, 360 can only play normal dvds and doesnt improve their picture any. Its also kind of cool I can take a movie I download on my pc, stick it on a usb flash drive, plug it into my ps3 and watch it on my bigger tv right off the flash drive. Can pause, fast forward, frame rate change, zoom in and out and use other options like you can on a dvd from the ps3 video menu.

Not to mention the ps3 runs dead quiet vs a 360 which is quite loud. And ps3 is known for being a pretty problem free machine while 360 even to this day still suffers from hardware problems, hell gamestop stopped taking extended warranties on them (don’t know if they do again now or not) because so many people were bringing them back with problems.

Far as games go both systems have 90% of the exact same games. All big names games like megaman 9, wolfenstein, bioshock 1 & 2, dead rising 2, beatles rock band, ghostbusters, bayonetta, call of duty 4, fallout 3, rock band 5, grand theft auto 4, modern warfare 2, brutal legend, marvel vs capcom 2, batman arkahm asylum, madden 10, assassins creed 2 and so on are on both systems and will continue to be on both.

Each year the list of exclusive games gets smaller. But personally the games on the ps3 that are exclusive I like better and have more of a variety to them. Killzone 2, MAG, final fantasy 13 versus, demons souls, uncharted 1 and 2, little big planet, flower, god of war 3, gran turismo 5, super stardust hd, metal gear solid 4, resistance 1 and 2, ratchet and clank a crack in time and tools of destruction, infamous, heavy rain among another dozen titles coming out in the next year that are ps3 only I like better. If you like MMO type games ps3 is only system to announce ones coming out for it, the two being DC universe online and Final Fantasy 14 online. But all big name big production games will be on both systems.

And well, I personally like the ps3 controllers better. They feel more comfortable in my hands, the D-Pad is more precise because the 360 d-pad is just a disc and sometimes pushing up registers as left or right, and the batteries are rechargeable in it I that like so when it gets low I just plug in a usb to mini-usb cable in the front of the ps3 and it charges while I play so I don’t have to buy batteries for it, after 2 years of use my controller still holds its charge like it did new.

I’m not anti 360, I just prefer my ps3 more, and more or less just get games for my 360 when it’s a exclusive for the 360.

Ok, well to start off I own both systems so I'll explain my point of view of them (my answer might be a little less bias do this fact). PS3: ONLINE - The online for the PS3 works perfectly great. It is not as great as Xbox Live but I rarely see much of a difference between them. The online gaming is also free on the PS3. SYSTEM - The technology used to build the PS3 is the best of the best. It has literally no technical problems whatsoever. The system uses blu-ray technology and supports bluetooth. The fan also does run quieter then the 360's. The PS3 also supports 1080p HD and HDMI 1.3a. The system also has an average life span of around 10-15 years. The Controllers charge in about 15 minutes and last for 30 hours. The CPU on the PS3 has 8 cores. The PS3 Dualshock 3 controllers DO HAVE RUMBLE (Dualshock 3 Controller)! The GPU is an RSX and runs at 550MHz. PS3 SYSTEMS - 20GB has 4USB ports, no Wifi, no media card readers, and is no longer available (can be found used) and it is backwards compatible. 40GB has 2USB ports, Wifi enabled, no media card readers, and is no longer available (can be found used) but isn't backwards compatible. 60GB has 4USB ports, Wifi enabled, media card readers, and is no longer available (can be found used) and it is backwards compatible. 80GB MGS4 Bundle has 4USB ports, Wifi enabled, media card readers, and is no longer available (can actually be found new and used on the internet, i.e. Ebay) and it is backwards compatible. 80GB ( 2nd version) has, 2USB ports, Wifi enabled, no media card readers, is available in stores but isn't backwards compatible. 160GB has 2USB ports, Wifi enabled, no media card readers, and isn't not backwards compatible. GAMES - Sometime within the next 2 years the PS3 is going to be the top of the market system with the top games ( some current good and games and some coming soon:Resistance 1 and 2, Socom Confrontation, Quantum Theory, God of War 3, Killzone 2, Little Big Planet, Playstation Home (which is basically a mix of the Sims and a communications network, also free), etc.). There are 224 games for the PS3. Also being the games are being made on Blu-ray discs, they are A LOT more durable than any other games discs available and can store up to 50GB of information. PRICE - The prices on the PS3's range from $399-$499 (although the systems that sold for $499 are no longer available in many stores-the 160GB will be on sale for $499). Xbox 360: ONLINE - The online for the 360 is pretty much the best online available, but like I previously said there isn't really a big noticeable difference between the 360 and PS3. The only negative to Xbox Live is you have to pay for membership to play it ($7 a month or $50 a year depending on which subscription you purchase). SYSTEM - The Xbox 360 system is not built as well as the PS3 is. There have been multiple system errors which do include rapid overheating and the RROD (red ring of death, once this occurs the system cannot be fixed). Mocirosoft has said that they "corrected the problem" with a Falcon Chip but many 360's still do get the RROD. The Controllers run an AA batteries and last 40 hours. The system has ONLY 720P HD output. The 360's CPU has 3 cores. The GPU is a Xenos and runs at 500 MHz. XBOX SYSTEMS - There are 3 systems avaliable, The Arcade Version, Pro, and the Elite. The only difference is basically the amount of HD space. GAMES - There are some good games out for the 360. There's Halo 3, Gears of War 1 and 2, Left for Dead, Fable 2, etc. There are 280 360 games. The 360 games are made on DVD-ROM's and can hold only 15GB of information. PRICES - The Arcade system was recently lowered to $199 but does not include the HD. The 60GB Pro currently costs $299, and the current price of the Elite is $399. So I would recommend the PS3 but in the end it's your choice. If you have any more questions concerning these systems feel free to contact me. P.S. - there are a lot of rumors that for the PS3 you need to have a specific t.v., well it is not true. The PS3 works on any t.v. that can attach A.V. cables to them. One more rumor about the PS3 is that they have overheating problems, which is not true. When the PS3 first came out being it ran on 8 Cores it did have overheating problems but Sony quickly corrected the problem a short time after with a double-fan cooling system. There is also one important issue that most people don't take into account. People say that if you buy the 360 it will save you money, well yes and no. If you buy the Elite then your not saving anything whatsoever. If you buy the Arcade or Pro you do save some money in the BEGINNING. You need to remember that you do have to pay $50 a year to play online on the 360 while the PS3 costs nothing. So if you add it up after a few years your actually using more money on the 360 than the PS3.

Nah, the ps3 is a great system. The 360 is a lot like the ps3, but the ps3 beats the 360 in a lot of aspects (especially the the hassle of the red ring of death). The ps3 also has free Internet which is a huge plus. Its not weird to want a ps3 instead of a 360, its just natural ; )

PS3 is better when it comes to graphics and both seem to have an edge when it comes to games. However, the PS3 can store tons of videos and music, etc. It is better as an entertainment for solo gameplay. The X-Box is better for multiplayer. Much better. However, if you are willing to spend a good bit more to get a PS3, then go ahead.

Not at all. I used to be a Nintendo/Sony guy, but this gen, I've been all Sony for the most part. Nothing against the other consoles, but I like what Sony offers.

It's not weird at all. It's probably a good, you're widening your horizon and will be exposed to more games.
