Are they going to release a patch to fix Skyrim lag on PS3?

I've been playing Skyrim and now it's getting to the point where disabling autosaves and deleting half the stuff on my PS3 won't fix anything. Can their patches even fix the problem? Or are the PS3 owners basically screwed?

No one knows for sure. The problem is that not all PS3 users are having the problem. An intermittent or spotty problem is much harder to fix than a constant one.

The PS3 is an old computer. It was made 5 or 6 years ago. This is a major problem when trying to adapt a newer game to play on it. They are pushing it's capabilities beyond their intended limits already. Imagine taking a PC made 5 or 6 years ago and trying to get today's PC games to play on it...that's the kind of situation they face.

Without redesigning the game in a major way (or redesigning the PS3 in a major way), it's going to be hard to get the game to run smoothly.

It seems like we are screwed, I too have that problem. PC players are focused more and are top priority because of sales. There are more people playing Skyrim on pc world wide than people that play xbox 360 or ps3 world wide. The problem is that $50 custom made pc in forein countries have the capacity to play skyrim, its just that ps3 and xbox360 are advanced systems and cost more so that is the reason for all this bullshit,

Bethesda make a whopping amount of coin on Skyrim sells, and they did announce that they are working to patch up glitches and bugs on all platforms, so you may see an update here soon. Fear not, fellow Dovahkiin.
