okay so i recently started playing fallout 3 again. i have finished it many times, but this has never happened. i went to crowley to recieve the quest, that worked fine, i recieved the quest and i went on my way. I stopped off at megaton to get some supplies from my house and then realised that the map marker disappeared off my map for the republic of dave (the first guy you have to kill). so i went into my quests log and saw that it said that i had killed all of the people needed, and since i hadnt done that i went to mr. crowley to see wtf was going on. When i get to him i try to talk to him and all he says is "you stole what was rightfully mine" when i hadnt done the quest yet, i hadnt even killed any of the people, nor spoken to anyone else. I am going to mention that i have Charon in my party and he was wearing winterised T-51b armor. could this have caused a glitch to happen and make Crowley think that i had taken the regular T-51b (which is "rightfully his") and this is why i can no longer complete the quest? (i hope not. i cant be bothered going to fort constantine. i wanted him to get the armor for me. lol) thanks in advance. and sorry its so long. ^.^

Quest-specific bugs:

-After completion of Operation: Anchorage, when picking up the Winterized T-51b Power Armor and equipping it, the trophy/achievement for this quest may suddenly become unlocked.

-If a follower has a Winterized T-51b Power Armor and you take it back from your follower you may complete this quest without getting all the keys.

Armor-specific bug:

If you pick this armor up while doing the quest You Gotta Shoot 'Em in the Head (the helmet excluded) the game confuses this for the T-51b power armor from Fort Constantine and completes the mission. This also rewards the player with the achievement or trophy respectively. Mr. Crowley will no longer speak to you after getting the armor, other than saying, "You stole what is rightfully mine, get lost." One way to avoid this is to keep the winterized version in storage (eg: in the locker in your Megaton house) while you complete the quest.

So yes, it does affect the quest. Have any old saves?

you got a save file glitch. basically an autosave/save has for whatever reason been interrupted, sometimes through no fault of your own and caused the games internal console to play silly buggers with the games reality. unfortunately the only way to redeem this is by doing the thing that obviously inst possible (go back to a previous save) or if your on the PC open the games console and re-instate the quest (what ever the coding needed is?)

it is possilbe on consoles (more so on the ps3) but ALOT of hassle and hardly worth it

sorry man hope helps i know all too well how annoying rpgs can be with this types of gltiches...
