I am on virgin media and have just bought a wireless router that works fine but ever since my hub bought a ps3 to play online games (call of duty) it keeps kicking him off saying its lost connection. Virgin media have been no help and we are no computer buffs and havent got a bloody clue so if anyone out there in internet land can help us in BASIC language it would be most appreciated!

Hey, i empathise, i had the same problem with my PS3 losing connection and being booted off in the middle of a tense shootout lol, despite the fact we've recently brought a brand new 108Mbps top spec router, and here's my advice:

-try and move the ps3 away from any other electrical equipment or wires that can interrupt the router's signal, unshielded speakers in particular can play havoc with WiFi if they're too close to the PS3

-Obviously try and do what you can to move the PS3 closer to the router or vice-versa to increase the signal and signal boosters are available to buy from computer stores but if, like me, this isn't an option, then i'd recommend going wired. This is what i've resorted to, running a discrete ethernet cable down the stairs to the router and have had great connections and no problems since. Cat5e ethernet cable is available cheap from most places, particularly some online stores or your local PCWorld and it really gets rid of any temperamental PS3 wireless problems, assuming your router's working fine. If that doesn't work i can only guess that your router's faulty and you'll need to get someone out for it, but ye, virgin are pretty shite when it comes down to that, we're with them too :P

Are you using Norton's Anti virus because that might be the problem right there as to why your wireless keeps knocking you off. Most people who use wireless will use AVG and you can grab that for free

Hmm probably only something to do with call of accountability. I had an excellent number of hassle with Battlefield 1943, it iced up particularly lots everytime i performed on line, yet no different game because of the fact or formerly that has. with a bit of luck its only the final replace you obtain or something. good luck.

Well I'm using verizon FiOS So I don't know too much about that but........ Go to settings, internet connection and it should tell you your signal strenght. Sometimes it says my connection is lost too. it's not the ps3 it's the game server.

try wired first to see if the wi-fi is the problem or the isp
