Ok so me and my sister want to start gaming again on some handheld consoles. A couple years back we had a ds and it was fun because you could send messages to each other without having to have an internet connection all u had to do was be in the same room. OK so here is my question which is better in terms of playing with someone close to you like playing with your friends on the go or playing with someone in the same room with you. And which one has better graphics. Thanks.

I'll give you some pros and cons of each system then at the end I'll tell you my opinion.

PS Vita:

Pros: Amazing Graphics for a handheld, variety of apps ranging from Facebook to Netflix, 3G use (if paying through AT&T), Unique use of touch screen and back pad, Compatibility with Playstation 3 (able to transfer saves, use vita as a controller, etc), Wifi enabled, local and online play, Good Battery Life, 2 analog sticks!!!

Cons: Expensive compared to the 3DS (250$ for the system itself), SD card used to store games is also expensive depending on size (60$ + for a decent size), lack of games at the moment (only a few good ones: Persona 4 Golden, LBP, Gravity Rush, Murumasa Rebirth, Uncharted, and a few others that are not coming to mind at the moment).

3DS

Pros: Cheap compared to the PS Vita (around 150$), amazing library of games (Star Fox, Zelda, Fire Emblem, Luigi's Mansion, Mario Kart, and a lot more), Wifi enabled, local and online play, Good Battery Life. 3D (if you're into it, personally I'm not, but a lot of people are), Street Pass gives you rewards for you're games!

Cons: The normal 3DS is a little too small for my hands so I wish I got an XL, the graphics are not on par with PS Vita, but can be good or bad depending on the game, (for me) The 3D gives me a headache and therefore I never use it, The Wii store is terrible for purchases compared to Sony's Playstation Store, One analog stick does not work for certain games and feels and looks cheap compared to Vita.

Final Thoughts: Being the owner of both of these fine consoles, I have to say that the 3DS is the better investment. It has a lot more games that are extremely fun and it has online and local play as well as wife like the vita. Plus the 3DS is cheaper so the extra money that you would use on spending on a vita would be put towards some 3DS games. I would go for the XL if you have big hands, but if not then the normal size is fine. The Vita is a great system, it just does not have enough games to keep a consumer happy. I love both of them, but with the 3DS you get more bang for your buck.

I prefer the ps vita. I will admit that the 3ds has an awesome library. But I also think the ps vita library is just as good. U can download most of the good psp games such as the grand theft liberty city stories and vice city stories. To classic ps one games like final fantasy 7 8 9. If u buy ps plus for fifty dollars a year they will pump games to u for free non stop about 4 a month. And start you off with a nice vita library to boot. Also playing someone in wipeout or all stars battle on your ps vita while they are on ps3 is crazy! Mortal kombat could not operate on the 3ds. I think vita is the way to go. Not to mention all the ps4 connectivity coming soon

Yes. 3ds has Pokemon. But vita has almost everything else. Better graphics, immensely better online features. Hundreds of Indie games and little big planet vita. U can't beat little big planet.

also has jak and daxter HD collection and upcoming tearaway among other stuff.

Also the ability to remote play PS4 games on the vita! So if someone is watching TV u can just turn it off and continue playing on vita

3ds does have okay features. 3d is nothing special. I never use it. But the games sure are great.

Idk what type of games u like but LBP should be on ur vita library...if u get it.

The vita has better graphics than the ds but I prefer the ds solemly due to the games that it has like legend of zelda and mario.

The Vita has better online play, but if you want personal multiplayer in the same room, the 3ds has better titles for that, like Mario kart.

3ds has way better games than the vita.

The graphics of the vita are better, but other than that vita just really sucks.

I suggest the PSPV. Its CFW will allow you to play classics and emulators to even play PS2 games are coming out soon. But...3DS has Pokemon. you cant beat pokemon.
