Quit playing WoW for 2 years... should I start a new character or go back to the old ones?

2 years ago, I quit playing World of warcraft and ended up with 3 characters with level 25 (Mage, Druid and Hunter)... The thing is, I am playing on a RP server Earthern Ring and everyone is at level 50 and above.

So my question is... should I start a new character instead and relearn to play the game or pay and have my character transferred to a Normal or PVP server? I only play 2 hours a day.

Also whats the difference between PVP and Normal server? And whats a good low level friendly server to join. Thanks

Realistically, all the servers are going to have lots of high level characters. That doesn't prevent there from being a healthy amount of lower-level characters as well. I actually just started a character on Scarlet Crusade not a week or so ago, and am having no trouble at all running into folks my level. Just joined a guild of 30+ people, and I'm one of the higher levels at 29.

Levelling now is actually a lot easier than it used to be. They tweaked the XP rewards for 20-60, so you level a lot faster (it's definitely noticable). They've also made a lot of the mid-level quests easier - they've dropped the number of elite, reduced some of the spawn generators, etc. (And, honestly, if you know a bunch of 50+ characters, get them to help out, if you can.)

If you're looking to level, a normal or RP server is the way to go - with them, you don't have to PvP if don't want to. On a PvP server, you get flagged pretty much any time you're not in a city/newbie zone. As for the difference between RP and normal servers these days? As far as I've seen, there isn't any - there's very little open RP going on in the RP servers, though there's at least a hypothetical suggestion to avoid "leet speak" on an RP server.

Don't. It's an 8 year old game and losing many players daily. It's dying even with another expansion coming out soon. The game is nothing more then a boring grindfest for gear. I 'quit' WoW three times. Every time I reactivated my account after new content was released, I would cancel it because it was just the same thing over and over. Remember why you quit in the first place. Diablo III just came out today... get it.

theres no such thing as a low level friendly server,

Pvp = you get killed and have more fun (usually)

normal = you can pvp in some places but you have to choose if you'd like to or not (not fun if you wanna kill more than monsters)

Rp servers = full of stupid people who can't do anything else but perv around on female draeneis/belfs.

make a new account i'd say. level 25's arent really worth going back to (+ you cant move characters from rp to pvp / normal. only rp to rp.)

i say go back to the old chars. you'll easily get to learn the game again. and don't xfer to a different server. just grind your way up to 70. you'll get there. if you prefer to start afresh then go for it, but you've already put some work into a few chars so why not keep going. or is it that you don't want to be on a role playing server? i never liked it myself. I'm on a pve server (uldum)

a pvp server is one that the horde and alliance can always pvp each other throughout azeroth and the outlands. you don't have to challenge the opposing faction to a duel. you just gank em. a normal or pve server is where you have to be in pvp mode (as well as the person you want to duel) in order to fight, or just plain gank them. i tried a pvp server after being on a pve server and i hated it. groups of the opposing faction will camp to kill lowbies for fun and it's annoying if you're not used to it. but then im not a big pvper.

welcome back to the game!

ps. you cant go pve to pvp/rp. but you CAN go rp to pve servers
