Yes, you can. Hint: Grow a Golden Shovel
Bury a shovel anywhere and dig it up one day (24 hours) later. The shovel will become a Golden Shovel. Using the Golden Shovel, you can bury bags of money to hopefully grow money trees. Larger lumps of money increase the odds of growing a fruitful money tree.
Hint: Growing Fruit Trees
You can plant a piece of fruit to grow a tree that bears that fruit. However, not all parts of your town are suitable for growing. To ensure that your fruit tree grows, chop down an existing tree (preferrably one that dooesn't grow fruit) and dig up the stump with a shovel. Bury the fruit in the hole you dug and it will always grow into a fruit bearing tree.
Hint: Get New Furniture for Free
If you've got some stuff you don't want, like ugly furniture or shirts, you can attach it to a letter and send the letter to another resident of your town. Town residents will almost always respond with a letter of their own and a different item attached.
Hint: Magic Rock Money
In town, you may attempt to hit each rock with a tool to shake it out for money. You may continue your shake down until this rock exhausts itself. This manner of money-making may be done once per day.
When you hit the rock, money will come out. However, you will bounce back. You will have to run back to hit it again. To prevent this, dig holes around you in a pattern so that you won't bounce away. You can make 20,000+ bells a day this way, but you have to be fast to get this much.

Hint: Nookie
Upgrade Tom Nook's shop by simply purchasing the necessary upgrade -- there are two levels you can purchase normally. A final additional upgrade level (Nookington's) requires someone else (a guest) to shop at the store. If you need a friend, head to IGN's free Animal Crossing Board and put out your Friend Code!

Hint: Snowman Furniture
In the winter where you find snowballs get a rather big snowball and push a little smaller one on top and a snowman will be made and will talk about how happy he is and a little while later he will send you a letter and a piece of furniture but whatch out the furniture may be worth a lot in Tom Nook's store but you can't buy it in the catalog also it gives you a lot of HRA points.

Hint: Recycle Free Items
Go by the post office recylcing bin daily and occasionally, there's junk left over you may find valuable or useful.

Hint: The Turnip Racket
You need two Nintendo DSes, two copies of the game since you will be farming both files. A cooperative buddy will also be helpful. The process goes as follows:
Player one needs to go through their game and note which days Tom Nook buys turnips (or some other commodity) at a high price. When you locate a day that you will turn a good profit from selling turnips, have player two with the second DS go to a Sunday morning at 6 AM. (The second player may need to change the system settings to do this).
Player two needs to find Joan and then buy as many turnips as can be afforded. Connect the DSes and have Player two sell the turnips to Nook's store in Player one's town. Repeat this farming technique as often as needed.

Hint: Cataog Completion
To complete your catalogue, you only need to borrow (as opposed to steal) an item from someone. You do not need to purchase it or even take it back to your own town. Just put the item in your pocket for a moment and that will add its entry to your catalogue.
When you visit a friend's town, have him/her place items that are not in your catalogue on the ground. Fill your pocket with items that you have that are missing from his/her catalogue. When you reach the town, empty your pockets and fill them with your friend's items. Afterwards, retrieve your own items and leave your friend's items on the ground for him/her to retrieve. This temporary exchange of items is sufficient to add them to your catalogue.

Hint: Turnip Preserves
Any white turnips you place on a table inside your home will never go bad. This will let you wait for a high turnip selling price without worrying about your turnips rotting.

Town Maintenance Making Money Special Events
There are a number of things to keep track of when trying to maintain your town. Whether you're building up your own home or tending to the environment to keep your residents happy, we've got tips to help you out.
Your Home
1st Mortage 19,800 Bells
2nd Mortage 120,000 Bells
3rd Mortage 298,000 Bells
4th Mortage 598,000 Bells
5th Mortage 728,000 Bells
6th Mortage 848,000 Bells
7th Mortage 948,000 Bells
Upon starting your game, you'll learn that you owe a seemingly large amount of money for your house's mortgage. However, as you pay off that mortgage your house will grow, only to leave you with an even larger mortgage! There are six expansions in total, each giving you more room to pack away all of your goodies. Unfortunately, that "larger mortgage" we hinted at is no meager loan—as you can see in the table to the right, you'll owe a lot of Bells. For tips on making extra Bells, be sure to consult the Making Money portion of this guide.
As the size of your house increases, so will the size of Tom Nook's shop. Though it doesn't always happen to be the case, Tom Nook will usually expand his shop around the time you're ready to pay off your own current mortgage. Tom Nook's expanded stores will carry more and more items for sale. When he finally expands into the store Nookington's, Nook's shop will have two floors of goods, included furniture and a salon where you can change your hair style!
Feng Shui
Once you've joined with the Happy Room Academy, you'll periodically get letters with ratings of your home. These ratings depend on a couple of things, including the size of your home and the manner in which you decorate it. You can score lots of Happy Room Academy points just by putting together furniture from the same series (example: Exotic Chair, Exotic Wardrobe, Exotic Screen). Perhaps more important, however, is the feng shui of your home.
Items of a certain color can improve the feng shui of the home if properly arranged. As outlined in the diagram to the right, place green items in the south part of the room, yellow items in the west side of the room and red items in the east side to improve your home's feng shui. To get the most from the effect, make sure the colored items are no more than one space away from the proper wall.
It's also possible to improve your in-game luck by placing certain items in your room. The following items are among those that'll boost your luck: big festive tree, birthday cake, bug trophy, dracaena, festive tree, fish trophy, flower trophy, garden gnome, ivory piano, jack-in-the-box, lefty lucky cat, lovely phone, lucky black cat, lucky cat, lucky gold cat, music box, piggy bank, portrait, racoon figurine, samurai suit, treasure chest, washer/dryer.
The Town
Your home isn't the only thing you need to care for. If you want to keep your neighbors happy then you'll have to spend time tending to your town and the environment. There are a number of things to look after. We'll briefly cover them here.
The Environment
There are a few things you can do to keep your environment tidy, the most obvious of which is picking weeds. Every day, new weeds grow around your town. If you let them sit for long, they'll soon grow larger and become even more of a pain to erradicate. It's a good idea to pick weeds first thing every day. Stop 'em while they're young and they won't grow to be a nuisance.
When picking weeds, be careful not to mistake withering flowers for unwanted plantlife. Withering flowers will take on a yellow hue and appear to be dead. However, giving them some water with your watering can will bring them back to life. Water the dying flowers a couple of times during the day and you'll find the flower has sprung back to life on the following day.
Outside of general gardening, you'll have to also pay attention to the feedback your town's residents send to the Civic Center. Talk to the attendant at the Town Hall and ask about the "Environment." She'll read you recent comments and give tips for making things better. Town residents want more trees? Buy some tree saplings from Tom Nook and plant 'em around the area. Neighbors bugged by the garbage in your town? Pick up the garbage and recycle it to make things right!
Resident Maintenance
Like the environment, your neighbors need your constant attention. To keep your town's residents happy, you'll have to spend time interacting with them. If you don't, they may move out of your town completely.
Most importantly, talk to your neighbors. Just being friendly with them is usually enough to keep them interested in your town. You can even simply wave to them by tapping on the neighbor while walking around the town. Little things count.
If you want to go the extra mile, you can write letters to your residents to please them. You can even attach presents to your letters before mailing them, and your neighbors will almost always respond with a letter and a present of their own! Furthermore, items you send other townies will often show up in their homes. It's a neat way to interact with the game and build a relationship with the residents.
Sometimes, no matter how well you treat them, your neighbors will want to move away. If you notice that a particular resident isn't roaming the town one day, stop by his house and talk to him. If you see him packing, you can try to persuade him to stay. It may take a lot of begging, but you can keep your residents in your own town by bugging them until they cave to pressure.

Town Maintenance Making Money Special Events
Though Animal Crossing has many goals, you'll spend most of your playing time dedicated to paying off your massive loans from Tom Nook. There are lots of ways to make money. Here, we'll focus on helping you out with the most lucrative Animal Crossing activities.
Fishing
Fishing is a great way to make loads of cash. It's also something you can do on any day, since there are always plenty of fish to catch. Of course, it's best to fish during hours when Tom Nook's shop is open. You can fill up your pockets with fish and then trade 'em to Tom for loads of Bells.
If you go out fishing during a time when Tom Nook's shop is closed, try to fill your pockets with the most expensive fish. If your pockets are full and you catch a high-value fish, swap it for one of the cheaper fish in your pockets to make room for the goods. You can load yourself with a lot of valuable fish and be ready to sell to Tom when he's open again. For help determining which fish are most valuable, consult our sortable Collectables page.
How to Fish
Before long, fishing will become second nature to you, but if you're just starting you may find it confounding. Before you can fish, you need to first purchase a fishing rod from Tom Nook. The fishing rod may not always be available, but come back another day and you'll soon be ready to fish.
With the fishing rod equipped, roam the nearby waters in search of fish (walk, don't run). You can't just toss the line into the water and wait for the fish to come—you have to search out the fish and correctly aim your cast. When you see the silhouette of a fish in the water, look towards the fish and cast your line. The fish will automatically move towards the fishing lure if it drops somewhere within its line of sight. If you make a bad cast, you can quickly call back the lure and re-cast, or simply wait to see if the fish moves around to find the lure on its own.
Don't touch the controls as the fish moves towards the lure! The fish will usually nibble at the lure a couple of times before commiting to a bite, and you'll scare the fish away if you pull the lure while they nibble. Be patient and wait for the fish to pull the lure completely underwater. You'll hear a short "ploop!" sound as the fish bites, and that's your cue pull in the lure. If you're quick enough, you'll hook the fish and reel it in.
In general, the fish you catch in the ocean will be worth more money than the fish you catch in the rivers. Thus, it's better to spend your fishing time near the ocean waters. Ten minutes of fishing in the ocean will almost always earn your more value than ten minutes spent fishing in rivers and ponds.
Selling Fruit
Another great way to earn lots of cash is to harvest and sell fruit. You can grow extra fruit trees, making your harvest larger (and more valuable) with time. However, you'll only be able to harvest when your trees are bearing fruit. Typically, fruit re-grows every few days—you'll have to wait those few days between harvests and rely on other means to make money.
The key to making money in the fruit selling business is to start growing fruits that are not indigenous to your town. Every town has its own fruit, but you can grow foreign fruits and sell them for lots. Tom Nook will purchase native fruits for 100 Bells a piece, but he'll give you an impressive 500 Bells for every piece of foreign fruit you bring him.
There are a couple of ways to get ahold of foreign fruits. The most straight-forward way is to visit another player's Animal Crossing town and pick some fruit from the trees there. Alternatively, if someone is visiting your town they can bring you a piece of their fruit. Another way to get foreign fruit is through mail correspondence with your town's local residents. If you mail one of your neighbors and attach a piece of native fruit, they'll often (but not always) respond with a letter of their own and a new type of fruit.
How to Grow
Before you can start growing fruit trees, you need to first purchase a shovel from Tom Nook's store. At the beginning of the game, the shovel may be hard to come by, but be patient and Nook should soon have it in stock. To plant a tree, simply dig a hole and bury your fruit.
Not every piece of fruit you plant will grow into a tree. Watering newly planted saplings will make them more likely to grow, but there are certain plots in the town that are simply infertile. However, there is a way to make certain your planted fruit grows into a money-making tree. Cut down an existing tree with an axe (one that doesn't bear fruit) and use a shovel to dig up the stump. Plant a piece of fruit in the hole where the stump was and your new fruit tree will always grow. When the three finally bears fruit, you can shake the tree down (with no items equipped) to collect the fruit. You can then sell the fruit for 500 Bells a piece, or plant them to grow even more fruit.
The Turnip Market
Playing in the turnip market is a way to make loads of Bells...but it's very risky! The turnip market is a lot like the stock market. Sometimes it's good and sometimes it's really bad.
Every Sunday morning, Joan the turnip seller will venture into your town. Talk to her and she'll offer you two kinds of turnips. Purchasing white turnips will let you risk the ups and downs of the pseudo-stock market. You can purchase turnips from Joan and sell them to Tom Nook at a later date for a higher price! The catch here is that Tom Nook won't always offer you a higher price for the white turnips. In fact, more often than not Nook's buying price is significantly lower than what you paid for the turnips. However, there's usually a couple times per week during which Tom Nook will pay a lot of cash for white turnips. If you sell to Nook at the right time, you can turn your turnips into loads of cash.
Keep in mind a couple of things when playing the turnip stock market. First of all, white turnips will go bad after one week has passed. That means that if you purchase turnips on Sunday and don't sell them by the end of the day on the following Saturday, your turnips will rot and won't be worth a single Bell. If you've still got turnips at the end of Saturday, sell 'em even if Tom Nook isn't offering much for them. Some money is better than none.
Another thing to keep in mind is that Tom Nook's buying price is always changing. Not only will the price of turnips change every day but they'll also often change multiple times throughout a single day! If you've got turnips to sell, stop by Nook's place at least a couple of times every day to check on the price of turnips. To better your chances of selling the turnips for a high price, try to link up with friends and visit their towns. Sometimes other towns will offer higher prices for your turnips (we've seen prices over 600 Bells per turnip).
The second kind of turnip is the red turnip. Red turnips aren't as risky as their white counterparts, but the amount you can profit is much more limited—you can make only 15,000 Bells per week.
A packet of red turnip seeds costs 1,000 Bells. Plant the seeds and keep them watered daily to grow the turnip. At the end of the week (Saturday), dig up the turnip and you can sell it to Tom Nook for 16,000 bells, giving you a profit of 15,000 Bells. If you forget to water the red turnip even just one day, it'll rot and become worthless. It's usually best to plant the turnip near your house so that you can always keep an eye on it and never forget a watering.

Town Maintenance Making Money Special Events
Life in Animal Crossing is a day-to-day thing. Every day could be ordinary, or you might get lucky and encounter one of the many special events in Wild World living. It's important to be prepared for these events. If you don't plan ahead, you may miss some great opportunities for rare items (and even lots of money).
Crazy Redd's
Once a week, Crazy Redd will show up in town and offer rare furniture...for a price. You'll need a password to get into Redd's tent, but that password is always available. If you haven't visited Redd before, you'll have to hunt for the password. Go around your town talking to the residents and one of them will cough up the secret code. Once you're in Redd's tent, you can pay a member ship fee to have Redd mail you the different passwords to his little hut of fun.
It's definitely worth joining Redd's crazy club. Not only will you have access to some rare furniture, but you'll also get a chance to buy various paintings that can be used to fill up your collection in the museum. Be careful though, as Redd will sometimes swindle you, selling you counterfeit paintings that aren't worth a dime.
Gulliver's UFO
Arc de Triomphe
Chocolates
Compass
Manekin Pis
Matryoshka
Merlion
Mermaid Statue
Metroid
Moai Statue
Mouth of Truth
Pagoda
Plate Armor
Tower of Pisa
Tribal Mask
While wandering outside, you may occasionally hear the quiet whistle of a balloon floating overhead. Pull out your slingshot quickly enough and you'll have a chance to shoot it down for a great prize. However neat thoses prizes may be, they don't hold a candle to what Gulliver and his flying UFO have in stock.
If you see a UFO scream overhead, quickly pull out your slingshot and aim for the sky. The UFO is quick and very hard to hit, but having the golden slingshot will make the challenge bearable (find out about the golden slingshot in the Secrets section of this guide). Shooting Gulliver down is the hard part, but that's not all there is to do with him.
When you've got Gulliver grounded, talk to him and he'll ask you to find some parts for his now-damaged UFO. The parts will be buried underground, so be ready with a shovel. Return the parts to Gulliver and he'll reward you with one of many random items.
As with most visitors, Gulliver appears once a week at random. He shows up only on weekdays, so don't look for him on Saturday and Sunday. You also won't likely see him before 6:00 AM. That still leaves a lot of hours for sky watching. Be ready with your golden slingshot and you may be the next proud owner of a coveted Metroid.
Wendell — He's a Walrus
Wendell the walrus will show up at random and beg for food. Just another grubby-hand freeloader? Not quite. Like most of Wild World's special visitors, Wendell has some rare items that you can only get through him. But it'll take an intricate exchange of favors, mixed with a bit of luck, before you come out with what you want.
Step One Feed Wendell a red turnip. In return, Wendell will hook you up with a turban or a country guitar.
Step Two If you get a country guitar, give it to K.K. Slider in the coffee house (Saturday nights). He'll give you a picture of himself which can go to your collection. Step Two If Wendell gives you a turban, give it to Saharah (she shows up randomly). Saharah will give you either a massage chair or a red vase.
Step Three Give the massage chair to Tortimer, the town mayor (he shows up at random). Tortimer will reward you with a scallop. Step Three Crazy Redd wants the red vase. In exchange, Redd will give you a safe.
Step Four The scallop goes to Pascal, who'll show up at the beach. Pascal will give you the golden axe, which never breaks. Step Four Give the safe to Tom Nook and he'll fork over a picture of himself. That's all!
K.K. Slider
Every Saturday night, K.K. Slider—the too-hip-for-record-company-contracts, guitar-playing dog—shows up at the musem's coffee house, The Roost. He'll play a random song for you if you take a seat in front of him, but you can actually request a specific song if you know the title. Speak to K.K. before sitting down and input one of the following song titles. Some of these songs won't ever be played unless they're requested, so consider this a cheat sheet to Slider.

Looking to fill out your collection of bugs? This list should help you figure out when and where to find every bug in the game. When you've caught a bug, bring it to Blathers in the town museum. You can donate any new finds to fill up the museum display and complete your collection. Unfortunately, bugs generally aren't worth very much money if sold to Tom Nook. Because they're so worthless, it's usually not a good idea to focus your money-making efforts on catching and selling bugs. Bugs are just too rare and too cheap to be worth your time.
The Season column refers to the months and time of day when the bugs may appear in your game. Dawn hours are between 4:00 AM and 9:00 AM, Midday hours are between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Dusk hours are between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM and Night hours last from 8:00 PM to 4:00 AM.

Fish Bugs Fossils
Every day, it's a good idea to boot up your game of Animal Crossing and start digging for fossils (assuming you have a shovel, of course). When you've got a new fossil, take it to Blathers in the museum and have him check it out. If the fossil is a new one, he'll ask to keep it in the museum. And while building up your display of fossils is a healthy goal, it's also fun to sell fossils for cash. Fossils are generally worth a lot of Bells. If you want to see how much a fossil is worth before handing it over to Blathers, check out this listing of fossil pieces and find out.

Secrets
Animal Crossing: Wild World is a game packed with secrets. There are so many hidden things that we're still finding new stuff every day. Below, we've detailed some of the more interesting game secrets.
Golden Tools
Getting ahold of all the tools can be a challenge in and of itself at the beginning of your Wild World adventure. However, you'll reach a point where you demand more of your precious tools. Each of the main tools—axe. fishing rod, net, shovel, slingshot, and watering can—has a golden version that has improved capabilities. Each tool has a special way of earning a golden version. Luckily, we've got the details to help you out.
Golden Axe
The process for getting the golden axe (which never breaks) is probably the most complicated of all. For details, consult the Daily Living portion of this guide and (look under the "Wendell" heading").
Golden Rod
To acquire the golden rod, you must catch one of every type of fish in the game. When you've done that, Tortimer (the mayor) will reward you with the rod which makes catching fish easier.
Golden Net
The golden net is nearly twice the size of a regular net and can be earned by catching one of every type of bug in the game. As with the golden rod, Tortimer will give you the golden net when you've earned it.
Golden Shovel
Simply bury a regular shovel in the ground for 24 hours and dig it back up to get a golden shovel. Using a golden shovel, you can plant bags of money to grow money trees (planting more money makes the tree more likely to grow money).
Golden Slingshot
Using a slingshot, shoot down 15 floating balloons from the sky. The sixteenth balloon you shoot down will have a golden slingshot, which fires three rocks at a timer in a spread-shot pattern.
Golden Can
To earn the golden can, you must keep your town's environment satisfactory for 16 consecutive days. Talk to Pelly or Phyllis in the town hall to see what you can do to make your town perfect.
Money Rocks
Every day, one of the many rocks in your town becomes a money rock. Hitting the rock with your shovel will shake out bags of Bells and start a hidden timer. Within the span of about five seconds, you need to hit the rock as many times as possible to knock out larger bags of Bells. Unfortunately, every time you hit the rock you get pushed away from it, making it difficult to hit the rock multiple times consecutively.
To avoid getting pushed away from the rock, stand next to the rock and dig holes around your character. With just three holes, you can lock yourself into place to avoid getting pushed away from the rock. You've got to lock yourself into place before hitting the rock, so you'll have to do so before you even find out if the rock you're next to is even a money rock. It may be a bit time consuming, but you can earn upwards of 8,000 Bells for your efforts.
Snowman Furniture
Want to get ahold of some rare, valuable furniture without too much effort? During the winter days, two snowballs will appear in your town. Start pushing around a snowball and it'll slowly grow in size. Put two large snowballs together and you've got yourself a snowman! But things are a bit more complicated than that...
In order to be rewarded with furniture from the snowman collection, you've got to make a perfect snowman. This involves some precision snowball making work, so pay attention. For the base of the snowman, make a snowball that's as large as possible. The snowball should be about the same size as your character when it's done. Making the head the perfect size is a bit trickier. The snowball should be about as high as your nose and no higher. Push the smaller snowball towards the large base and the snowman will automatically form. Wait a while and you'll get the snowman furniture in the mail (as long as you got the dimensions right).
Time Travel
Are you the adventurous type? Care to walk the line between exploration and danger? Time travel is an option to daring players, though be warned: time travel may have adverse effects on your Animal Crossing: Wild World game.
Almost everything in Animal Crossing is affected by the time of year. Different fish are available, different events occur, and other things happen based on the date. And while the real-life date isn't something you can change on a whim, the date in Animal Crossing is. Before entering your town, you can change the time and date of your DS and/or Animal Crossing game card. When you do, the time and date in the game will change, bringing you experiences from the future...or from the past.
Of course, time travel does ruin some of the game's surprise. And like we said, it may have negative impact on your game. Don't say we didn't warn you!
I hope this helps. You can print it out and use it while playing the game.
