Minecraft 1.6.1 change offline name?

Does anyone know if it's possible to change your name in offline Minecraft 1.6.1? In previous versions, my brother and I played on a lan using the same account by launching Minecraft using a .bat file containing:
cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin
java -Xms512m -Xmx1024m -cp "%APPDATA%\.minecraft\bin\*" -Djava.library.path="%APPDATA%\.minecraft\bin\natives" net.minecraft.client.Minecraft "PLAYER-NAME-HERE"
But in 1.6.1 Mojang has changed things around and this no longer works. We really like playing MInecraft but because our internet is too slow we can only play on lan so we need to be able to change our names in offline mode.

Here is what I found that worked. On Windows 7 and Vista. After having ran the launcher once to install the new update:

1. Click the Start button and type "Run". Select the run program.

2. Type %appdata% in the run dialog.

3. In the ".minecraft" folder, look for a file named "launcher_profiles.json". Open the file with notepad.

4. In the file will be a string of text. In the section "displayName" : "YourUsername", change your username to whatever you want.

5. Save and close the file and run the launcher again.



This worked for my son & I. We were able to play over LAN after doing this.

You know what me and my little brothers and sisters like playing minecraft together too, because we have to share an account. I am having the same problem, and I worked so hard on a horse trail so we can ride horses together! I'm sorry but I can't help, however I too wish this didn't change. :\
