Question:
Downloaded Sims 2 lots, not showing up?
2009-03-06 13:46:09 UTC
I have been downloading for a long time on the Sims and I have lots of different sims and objects with no download problems, but when I download lots (I have downloaded around 10), only one shows up. I used the Clean Installer, so nothing should be missing. It downloads to the \EA Games\The Sims 2\Teleport folder.

This is what I have tried:
In my normal downloads, to keep things straight, I create subfolders. Like, in Downloads, I have hair, AngelinaJoili Sim, makeup, etc.
So, I tried to do that with my house downloads in the teleport folder as well. Nothing showed up in the lot bin, so I removed the folders, and now I have a lot of cluttered houses in my teleport folder. Not that it matters or anything, but I really just want to play with those new houses.

I have tried deleting everything, and re-installing with the Clean Installer as well with no subfolders at all. Nothing ever shows up.

I have downloaded from MTS2.com and thesims2.ea.com and many other sites. The comments on the houses I have downloaded have said nothing about having any problems. So, I have to believe I am doing something wrong.

Any suggestions?

As long as you have been using the Clean Installer without any problems with anything else, I would continue using it. But things are not actually supposed to STAY in your teleport folder. You see, when you first install the house using either the Maxis installer or the Clean Installer, it is supposed to go into the "teleport" folder. But as soon as you open your game, it is supposed to "teleport" from the teleport folder into the Lots Catalog. It sounds like the houses are not "teleporting" from one folder to the next for some weird reason.

I have ran into other people in the past though where they can't seem to get lots installed into their game either. I've never been able to figure out why, but I do know of a tutorial that will teach you how to "manually" get the lots installed. Read the following link:

http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:GCCTSU9

Hopefully it will work for you. I know that someone else I was trying to help on EA's Sims 2 bbs was the person who actually found that link and said it worked for her. She signed my guestbook and gave me the link, I've been grateful to her ever since because I've been able to pass it on to others with the same problem.

Well, I guess edit your question and let us know if it works for you too and good luck!

**ETA -- don't put the downloaded lots into the teleport folder yourself. Just save them somewhere else and then double-click on them. They should go into the teleport folder after you have double-clicked on them and chosen to install them. Normally, there should not be ANYTHING in that folder. The only time anything should be in it is right after you have installed a house, but BEFORE you have actually started your game. After you have started up your game, the files that were in the teleport folder should be gone.

Also, do not create subfolders within the teleport folder -- only within the Downloads folder.**

i don't use Clean Installer because some said it's not supported with Vista but so far i don't have any problems installing houses from sims2 official site or modthesims2.com.i only double click the sims2pack installer,it will self-installed and play well in my game.have you try ask this problem in BBS or modthesims2 forums?

is the houses you download included with tons of custom contents?

after you run the game have you check LotCatalog folder?does the houses changed into .package format?

starred your question.i have contacts who know more about custom contents hope they can help you

thanks S2P i forgot about Teleport folder,i should read the question carefully. to the asker, when you download a house, save winrar file somewhere else like a temporary folder first.then extract and install it with Clean Installer.the house should automatically goes inside Teleport folder.after you run the game, check LotCatalog folder it should changed into package.format
