Question:
New versions of old Zelda and Metroid games?
2011-09-03 12:13:09 UTC
I grew up with The Legend of Zelda and Metroid and want to replay the series now that I don't have the attention span of a seven-year-old. :D The problem is, with all of the old consoles and games gone, and so many of them being remade and released digitally, I'm having trouble finding each game. I want to play as many as possible on the Wii(unless they're better suited for 3DS/older systems). If anyone could show me to a list or something of each game and where it's available, it'd be a big help. Wiki has something like this, but it just lists them all as "Virtual Console" with no specification of Wii or 3DS. Also, can anyone tell me where to get a decent copy of any game not available digitally?

Thanks for any help!

The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Metroid, and Super Metroid are all on the Wii's Virtual Console, while Link's Awakening DX is on the 3DS's Virtual Console (as are the first two Zeldas and the original Metroid, but only for as part of the ambassador program), as well as Ocarina of Time being remade for the system. This leaves the Oracles and Metroid II, both of which while probably eventually come to the 3DS VC, or you could probably find on eBay or some such.

EDIT: In reference to ninja, while emulation is often cited as a way to play classic games, one must remember it is an illegal option, and thus I cannot recommend it, especially when a legal alternative readily exists.

Wow! What a question... relies upon on how old you propose, yet that's a variety of my faves via the consoles: Atari 2600 -Pacman, Demon attack (80s) Atari 800 (i think of) - Minder (80s) Commodore sixty 4 - Pitfall 2 (80s) Amiga 500 - Supercars 2, Cannon Fodder, Moonstone, Kickoff, Speedball 2, Rock celebrity ate my hamster, Panzer kickboxing (90s) PS1 - very final fable 7, Anna Kornikova's Tennis (for multiplayer mode somewhat - try grenade tennis, a lot exciting), Tenchu, Gran Turismo (the unique became into impressive), Tomb Raider (problematic yet exciting) Bust a Groove i be attentive to I even have indexed extremely a lot yet each and all the above is unquestionably deserving of a point out and could no longer no longer point out all of them. in line with what variety of interest you like and how some distance decrease back you like or how modern-day, i'm particular there are greater worth a yet that's an extremely solid initiate.. have exciting in case you do try any of the above, no longer that i could say that.. that's inevitable :0)

1337star, pretty much answered it, bu I wanted to war about another answer. BE CAREFUL ON EBAY!

Right now, there is a massive problem with counterfeit floating around. The seller takes a picture of the legit copy, and then sells copies of it. I got scammed into buying a fake Pokemon Emerald, and I cannot return it, or link to other games. Also, putting it into my DS would brick it.

Be EXTREMELY CAREFUL!

Also, 3DS is getting METROID II: Return of Samus by the end of the year for Europe so it is easy to say it would come out earlier for US.

The Wii's Virtual Console is your best chance of playing them. Other than that, you could get the GBA versions of them. And you should be able to get any copy on ebay.
