Question:
How do you get pass level 30 on Tap Defense (for iTouch/iPhone)?
2008-11-29 13:23:02 UTC
Could anyone help me with the Tap Defense game application on iTouch/iPhone? I just can't seem to get pass level 30; I don't let any demons in from levels 1-29, and then boom, level 30 come along and I let almost all of them in.

Thanks in advance! :)

Its actually too easy, sorry in advance for sort of ruining the game but here it is it costs 107 gold to build the arrow tower fully upograded but if you sell it its a 108 gold, so basically buy the arrow tower when the game first starts updraded to level 2, then when you get more gold fully upgrade it. and sell it, before the next level begins, you have to highlight it and do it quickly, and later on in the game (as many as you can) before the next level begins, giving you extra cash from the the sale of course and the interest, remember you can pause the game during and sell the towers you don't need. Or if you have to much time on your hands you can sell and rebuild, sell and rebuild so you get more gold and get those insane scores in the millions that you see on the network highscores, Also when you get the halos use them to get the magic towers as well not just the extra interest or you'll lose maybe not in easy mode but medium and hard for sure. There ya have it!

Ive beaten the game on easy a few times, so I assume that youre asking how to beat it on the easy mode. To get past level 30+, buy the minimum towers possible for levels 1-29, and spend all your halos on interest, not tower research. I always buy up to 20% interest, then Ice, then Magic, then 25%, and then Storm. IF YOU WANT TO BEAT THE GAME BUY STORM AND ONLY BUY IT AFTER YOU HAVE 25% INTEREST. The last level is incredibly hard, and before you start it make sure you have 2-3 Storm Towers at the beginning near the Hell Gate and have them all max upgrades. If you dont have this, the chance that you will be able to beat the last level even on easy, is highly unlikely. On the middle road, line one side with 5-6 arrow towers, and the other side with 5-6 bomb towers, with 1 ice tower at the beginning and end of this road. Dont research Ice until youre at around level 20, use water for Firecats, etc in the meantime. When I beat the game, I had about 5 ice towers spaced evenly around the map, 3 storm towers clustered around the hell gate, a max ice tower right next to the hell gate, and the rest were the basic towers. Hope this helps. By the way, I usually lose up to 5 lives before level 30 because I use the minimum tower defense, but it all pays off so don't worry.

Wow...I went from not being able to pass level 30 to finishing the game. I agree with most here except you do not need ice, magic, or earthquakes. All you really need is storm which is your goal. Keep upgrading gold till around 30% so you can build up a lot of interest. I only started upgrading towers and such with interest. The more gold you have in your pot each round, the more money you have to spend. In the last 5 levels i accumulated atleast 5000-10000+ in interest. It actually gets easier. Make sure to place water between towers. When you can afford storm pieces on interest alone and can upgrade them all the way, then you can start buying those. In the last few levels the creatures couldn't even pass my middle ground. I ended up with 12 lives spared. Mind you i lost most of these lives before i even reached the 30+ level. Hope this helped. Looking forward to trying my hand out at medium.

My final score was 16,607 with over 60,000+ in the bank and 12 lives.

cheers

Oh man, i had the same problem. The first three times i played i lost on level 30 each time!! However, i figured out the trick to this game and have beaten it on easy two times since with no problems at all.

The trick is to use as little gold as possible to get you through the level. Therefore, at the end of each level you gain a higher interest. Say you finish Lvl 15 with 50 gold. 50*10% is only 5 extra gold. However, if you end with 500 gold and take 10% you gain an extra 50 gold at the end of the lvl.

Some helpful tips along the way-

Get full upgraded Storm at the very beginning of the lvl (25% damage)

Spread Ice/water throughout and some fully upgraded ice next to the storm towers =).

Use your first 4 halos to upgrade your income

Use as little towers needed to get you through the level

I've not gotten past level 34, but I think it might have something to do with saving up as much gold as possible early on so you can purchase the earthquake tower.

To save up the gold, you'll have to learn what the bare minimum is that's needed to defeat the monsters. That way, more will be added to the interest at the end of the level. For example, you can defeat the first wave with only two well-placed arrow towers.

UPDATE:

I tried it. You can get the earthquake tower at around level 15. It works wonders in concert with ice towers, however it still isn't powerful enough past level 30 unless you manage to get the second upgrade for 1200 gold. That proved too pricey for me this go-around.

I still didn't get farther than level 37. I think my mistake was putting the earthquake where it couldn't be surrounded by ice towers very well.

So far some things that I've noticed (easy mode):

In the very beginning:

- live off your interest and accumulate money

- create many cheap arrow towers

- don't upgrade towers

- try to create a kill zone around the middle path, leave some holes for ice towers

- keep what you've built somewhat balanced, since monsters have resistances to different kinds of towers, so if you build all cannon towers thinking they're stronger, on some levels you'll get creamed -- i start with about 2:1 arrow:cannon ratio or so.

In the middle game:

- I buy ice towers and add them to the kill zone on the middle path

- also build up a kill zone on the first loop up towards the middle and the last loop down towards the middle

- when you start getting enough interest to upgrade the ice towers to level 2 it pays to do that, because you get not only the bonus of more damage from the tower, but it slows them down more and they absorb more damage from everything else.

- i used quite a few magic towers, but didn't upgrade them at all until the very end.

- the initial arrow towers you built should get upgraded to level 3 because they're cheap.

Towards the end:

- I planned out how i put down towers arranging enough room to put ice towers at level 2 all around the circuit to slow monsters down. there shouldn't be anyplace in the circuit where they can accellerate

- I didn't use quake towers, storm towers or water towers at all.

For the last level:

- I had a pile of cash at this point, so I filled up remaining slots with cannon towers and ice towers. the arrow and cannon towers i upgraded to level 3, magic and ice towers i had all upgraded to level 2.

I have no idea how you get a million points in this game like in the network high scores -- i only got a little over 4,000...

My hint will make the game much easier and infact probably less fun. Read at your own risk.

Build 2 arrow towers at the start. Upgrade them as quickly as possible. They should both be fully upgraded by midway through level three. ***secret*** a fully upgraded arrow tower sells for 1 more than it costs to build so if you pause and sell them all prior to the end of each level you can make gobs of money off the intrest. Continue this through around level 20 and money will be no object. A combination of storm towers upfront with bomb towers next the path, ice and water sprinkled in to slow them down, arrows behind the bombs, magic behind the arrows, and the earthquake in the bend kept even the politicians in the last level on hard from getting even halfway. I usually finish with around 300k in the bank.

Now, does anyone know how the score is derived? The help section could not be more useless on the subject.
2008-11-30 16:23:31 UTC
Alright well I beat it on easy, ending up with 13 lives, 13,644 points and 50,494 in cash, secret is place your towers apart from each other and in spots where you can hit multiple roads, save up, get the interest and then the ice and then the earthquake and when its max lvled it hits for 2000 every 4 seconds which is amazing. I read alot of people had trouble but I did the entire game without any enemies ever on the last third of the road (save the few cats and flys that were so fast. If you strategically place towers, the game is a joke. By the way, after maxing the earthquake tower, you can beat every enemy for the rest of the game with it alone, good luck.

EDIT*

Just beat it on Medium and Hard with the same thing, Its the earthquake tower that does it for you, surround it with ice towers and wait until like 10 or so guys are in the earthquake radius and well.. you know the rest
2008-11-29 20:34:48 UTC
Chris is right. Skip all tower researches until you get 20% interest. In the mean time, just build arrow, water, and bomb towers around the first/second bend in the road, and then again on the middle road. After the 20% interest, research storm. Put two storm towers in the first crook in the road (The two squares next to each other at the bottom-most of the screen near the "entrance"). Hopefully by this time you'll have enough to get them upgraded to 2nd or 3rd level. After storm, put ice towers at the corners, and fill in the rest of the blanks with bombs and arrows, and finally magic towers. Upgrade them bit by bit. I tried to keep about 700g in the bank, which will give you about 150g at the end of each turn. Again, don't worry too much about losing lives early on. I beat the game and had only 9 lives left. Save the money and DEFINITELY do not get the earthquake tower....

I basically cheated my way past level 40. I haven't figured out how to do it for real, but I was curious about all the upgrades so I cheated.

Here is how:

Have a bunch of water and ice towers to slow the creatures down. Then press the home button on the iPhone / iPod once all creates are out of hell and on their way. Restart the game at the same point and now it takes just one hit by water or ice to fully stop a creature which is then bombed at leisure.

I am sure this hole will be plugged soon ;-)

The game has 43 levels.

Level 43 is ridiculous with tons of devils popping out all at the same time.

If you are talking about the Hard Level, then I suggest using the ICE towers in the front of Hell and supporting them with the Cannons. Then behind the cannons, you use the highest strength storm towers to attack the groups that get frozen. Then you need to have high strength water towers, followed by ice, then Cannon towers. Do this the rest of the way up to the corner before heaven. Then you need to have full water towers, backed up with two storm towers.

That should get you all the way to 43, but be sure to save coins and gain interest. You will need about 2100 in the bank and earn 25% interest to accomplish the above. Good luck.

If you build a lot of arrows in the beginning, almost fill up the whole map with the cheap arrows, you can get pretty far. When you get the halo points, use them to upgrade interest. You should have over 2000 dollars by now and when you feel like your arrows aren't holding up as well, use a halo point to get the ice towers. Upgrade the ice towers one level to slow them down. Then get 3 of the storm towers and upgrade them fully but you have to put them near the beginning with ice towers surrounding the first part. Then upgrade to 30% interest and then get the magic towers as you can afford them and replace your arrows. I got to 43, the last level and said I beat the game.

I've beat the game on easy and medium and got to the last level (43) on hard...which seems completely impossible if u ask me. The trick is to save save save early and let ur interest do the work... you should be in the high hundreds or even thousands by the time ur in the upper 20s. earthquake tower is a waste of money... storm towers are awesome when fully upgraded... i've only ever built 1 of em tho...
2008-11-29 21:12:49 UTC
Was able to beat the game on medium just now. Spend as little money as possible. Use one research point for ice, and the rest for interest. You may need to build arrows and water towers, but eventually aim toward putting up four towers in the center: ice, cannon, cannon, ice. This formation will slow down monsters, and hammer them with splash damage on both horizontal paths. When upgrading these four towers, go as slow as possible to maximize interest. Once fully upgraded, this formation will take you up to level 30 or so. And if all goes well, you should be raking in several hundred gold per level from compound interest.

Around level 30, start adding fully upgraded storm towers near the bottom path. Continue to add fully upgraded storm and ice as needed, trying not to disrupt your compound interest. As the monsters hp increase exponentially, the storm+ice combination should be able to keep pace. You don't need to bother with earthquake or magic towers.

Good luck.

i use 2 cannons in the front, try to get them fully upgraded, and build ice turrets to slow down the enemy...at about level 20 i start building the magic towers and upgrading them to lvl2...i have only made it to lvl 35 though, the game is tough..also something that helped me a lot is in the options menu you can turn on to see the monsters health, then you get a better idea of which turrets are best.

I did it, I just did it! The trick is to spend as little money as possible and upgrade as little as possible. This way you recieve a greater interest after each lvl. Also upgrade your interest right away instead of investing in other towers. you don't even need them till like lvl 25 anyways and by that time you can have 2 upgrades to your interest gained.

Enjoy

I got to level 43 and learned it's not about quanity...it's definately about quality. Level 43 was ridiculously hard while 42 and below really gave me no problems at all.

So my question is, how many levels are there?

Anybody take a look at the network scores in the high scores section of the main menu? It shows people's scores in the millions! How is that possible?

i beat easy a few times, first build six arrows and upg three of them by level 5 then upg other three by level 8

that way you get lots of intrest, in the mean time only upg intrest until around level 20 then get ice. and around level 12 get three cannons

I'm right there with you I can't seem to beat that part. Maybe storm towers help? Never really found a use for them.
