Alright, I've installed the sims 2 probably 5 times now so if this answer isn't quite what you're looking for PLEASE e-mail me (katiex642@yahoo.com) and I will help you :D

1.) Insert disc one

2.) It should automatically start to download

3.) you should get a message saying to insert disc 2 when it has downloaded *approx.* 25% so insert that disc.

4.) do the same with the 3rd and 4th discs as the messages appear.

5.) After the full installation start the game by double clicking the desktop icon and the game should start up :]

I don't think you have to do anything involving the hardware with basic installation so you should probably leave that alone, but if you think I'm talking about something else PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE I INSIST - E-MAIL ME.. :]

The problem is that you downloaded from a bad source. It wasn't properly uploaded. You can try buying the game or downloading it from somewhere else.

EDIT: Sorry your don't understand basic terms involving computers. That is no reason to give everyone a thumbs down. The term is "installed" not "downloaded". If you say you "downloaded" something, people will assume you downloaded something. Please excuse me for not being able to read your mind.

The honest truth is that EA Games don't install very well. Constant errors. You just have to keep trying to install over and over until it eventually does so successfully. Especially with the Sims 2 games. You might actually need to return your disk for a new one because some disks don't work at all. You can try going to the Sims 2 forums at thesims2.com. It's under the "community" section. They basically have an entire forum about errors while installing (they are extremely common).

I tried to download it on my computer and I found that my computer was a little too outdated so I had to get a new computer eventually and now I can play it.

Ooh, you have a Mac? Sorry hun. The original Sims2 game is a PC game. As far as I know, it won't work on a Mac. =(

Don't download it. Buy the CD. It's easy then.

Make sure you have the right computer.
