World of Warcraft best spec for leveling mage?

hi, i just made a mage and i was wondering what would be the best spec to go for PvE. Specifically 5 man dungeons. any builds would be nice. thank you for any help =)

I've powerleveled 2 mages and did both the same way lol. Went fire until 40 when I could get Ice Barrier in frost and then changed specs to frost, leveled to 75 as frost, and then went FFB spec to 80. Like everyone said, Fire or Arcane is typically better damage in 5man dungeons-- Frost can get pretty competitive on multi-mob pulls though with blizzard being able to freeze things and shatter coming into play. I know you didn't ask this, but I hated frost. It was ridiculously boring to me, as was arcane. Fire/FFB specs have been the only ones I've actually had fun with, playing with procs and doing a ridiculous amount of damage =)



I would also (like another poster) recommend the Wowpopular site for checking talent specs.

My husband is a gnome mage and went Fire up until about level 70, for leveling purposes. He then switched to Frost and has been Frost ever since. We do a lot of PVP.



Here is a website that gives you the most popular specs used by WoW players. The site gathers its information from the Armory and gives you the talent trees based on most popular to least popular. It also tells you what glyphs, enchants and armor to use for each spec.

For leveling in quest type things I'd say frost since you won't take as much damage since your spells will freeze and slow enemies, meaning they reach you slower and don't have as much opportunity to damage you.



If you're just gonna use the dungeon finder tool and level that way or in BG's then I'd assume it doesn't really matter which spec you use as long as you know how to use it right, and you can only learn how to use it by actually experiencing it.

Most people either level fire or frost, i leveled frost and my friend leveled fire. FIRE will be better dps in 5 mans, and frost will be easier soloing and pvp in general.

You spec hearth for greater effective harm dealing. undergo in ideas that there are greater hearth gears than Frost gears as you point. in case you prefer to pvp at bigger point, respec to Frost for greater effective crowd administration. Arcane/hearth performs greater effective in cases and raids.

If you want to burn one guy down at a time really quick-like, go Fire. If you want to pull a few and take them all down at once go Frost.
