I'm looking to make a competitive Pokemon team in Heartgold. This isn't going to be used in tournaments or anything, but I will be using it against friends and in the battle tower. My current team so far is this.

Gyarados - Sweeper
Waterfall
Ice Fang
Earthquake
Dragon Dance

Alakazam - Sweeper
Psychic
Calm Mind
Reflect
Recover

Dragonite - Sweeper
Outrage
Thunder Punch
Aqua Tail
Dragon Dance

Rhyperior - Tank/Sweeper
Stone Edge
Earthquake
Hammer Arm
Rock Polish

Umbreon - Annoyer/Wall
Toxic
Confuse Ray
Dark Pulse
Moonlight

Meganium - Support/Wall
Toxic
Aromatherapy
Light Screen
Synthesis

Even if its just for Battle Tower (which gets really tough in the latter stages) and friend battles, I would still recommend EV training and acknowledging natures (Iv breeding isn't that bigger deal if it isn't for tournaments but you could do it if you wanted a perfect Pokemon). Also never use attacking moves on Umbreon (ok, maybe Payback... at a stretch). One more thing Meganium, sucks. There are much better supporters/walls out there like Weezing, Cresselia or Uxie (the latter who can use Stealth Rock)

Gyarados: Not bad. Gyarados doesn't have too many options, sadly.

Alakazam: I'd give him another attacking move, such as Focus Blast. Which move is up to you, and which one is best to replace depends on what item, nature, EVs, etc. you're using. Sweeping with only one type of move won't always get you very far.

Dragonite: Solid. He has more options, but your set looks fine.

Rhyperior: Good. If Rock Polish works for you, then keep it, but if not, replace it with another coverage move, such as Ice Punch, Avalanche (works well with his low speed), Megahorn, etc.

Umbreon: Replace Dark Pulse with Payback. Umbreon has low attack and pathetic special attack, and since you probably aren't investing too much speed in him, Payback works well.

Meganium: In general, not very good. However, yours is good for a Meganium. I suggest adding Leech Seed over either Toxic or Synthesis to differentiate it more from Umbreon. You may even want to replace both Toxic and Synthesis with Leech Seed and Reflect, then give Meganium the item Light Clay.

first of all garchomp is banned from ultimate battling. in case you want replace it with some thing comparable like Flygon or Salamance (if isn't banned the place you conflict). Skarmory: as some distance by using fact the evs flow I remember that skarmory desires slightly extra attack to take down an Infernape or some thing with a courageous poultry. I recommend you seem that up and upload slightly extra. Swampert: avalanche is a low priority extra which potential it is going to constantly flow final despite if dealing with a slower pokemon. additionally its undesirable is decreases in the experience that your opponent switches or makes use of a standing flow. standard ice beam is a superb decision by using fact its nevertheless going to 1HKO that dragon pokemon. Garchomp: a extra robust decision for hearth fang is flamethrower considering the fact that hearth fang is low skill besides and flamethrower makes use of maximum steel varieties decrease sp. def against them. Gengar: swap to decision scarf for this by using fact of dystiny bond revenge killing.
