hey everyone -
i'm an actor researching a role where I'm going to be playing a pilot. (i know. I know. i'm such a poser. And a cliche!)
Can anyone out there help me out? I want to set myself up with a sweet (but not necassarily top of the line) flight simulator that will work with my MacPro. (My MacPro is pretty maxed out. And I have Parallels, Boot Camp, etc). I'm willing to spend some money, but I really plan to put in a lot of hours on it. I want to get a sense of the simulator and really try to max it out (from my living room. yes, yes, i know. I'm not really flying. I know I'm a poser). So, i'm looking for some advice. What software? How many monitors (I was planning on buying a 3 monitor setup)? What accessories should i get? Thanks in advance. I'm hoping not to look like another pansy actor pretending to do stuff that they have no idea how to do.

Well im a professional Pilot and heh stick to acting you make more money, Anyways x-plane will most likely be your best bet www.x-plane.com and you will need a good set of flight controls if your going to be playing the roll of a fighter pilot then you would want somthing like the saitek x-52 and if your going to be more of a airline pilot you will want a yoke saitek makes one but there are a few cheaper ones if you do a web search if you need any help email me at erussellcfi@gmail.com

Im also making a website which will host addons for fsx/xplane feel free to check us out http://simulationhub.comyr.com

I can only help you with the software part...Microsoft Flight Simulator is pretty much the only way to go. You should get either MS FS 2004 or Flight Simulator X

You can run these through boot camp.

I have a MacBook and use X-Plane w/multiple monitors. Most realistic flight characteristics of planes I've found. Try a demo at X-Plane.org.
