My friend introduced me to The Protomen recently and I really liked the story they made with their songs based on Megaman. I've never played or watched anything Megaman before except for a few of the original games. I know there's a lot of games and a few cartoons/anime, so what's the best way to start watching or playing the Megaman story?

I considered starting at the beginning with the original NES games, but they really had no depth and were just walking and shooting with a few cut scenes. I'd like to get into a story about Megaman (as well as Protoman and the relationship between Dr. Light and Dr. Wily if possible), so what's the best show or game for some action and drama and such?

Really looking for advice from the die-hard Megaman fans. I know you're out there.

Megaman is made up of multiple sub series. There's the:

Original Megaman, the you're talking about with Dr Light.

Megaman X

Megaman Zero (sequel to X)

Megaman ZX (sequel to Zero)

Megaman legends

Megaman Battle Network

Unfortunately the original megaman games that the Protomen base their songs off of is the sub series with the least plot and cutscenes.

It seems the Protomen took the concepts of the original megaman games and made up their own story (or filled the many plot holes with their own ideas), which seems more deep and intense. The NES games have very little plot. I don't think Protoman ever dies, and the he doesn't make his first appearance until Megaman 3 during which he fights you for an unspecified reason, and it's never stated where he was in the prior two games.

As for the show, I've only seen one episode. But the plot is different from the games.

Yeah, with lots. Metroid, it has a pretty well-sized fanbase, but nobody I can talk to in my area. Fire Emblem, which never had a large fanbase, until now Awakening came out, but still, few people have ever played an entry before Sacred Stones (maybe because all but one of the ones before Sacred Stones are all in Japanese), but because how dedicated I am to the games, nobody I know personally except my brother is as big of a fan. And Chibi Robo and Custom Robo, two game series that no one ever talks about, in real life or the Internet. I spend a lot of times on forums about my favourite games, it's nice to talk to other people about them.

Yes the best wya to star is to take it back in the day wen megaman was originally introduced then if you have the money to get the newer sysdtems you can see how he evolved to 2d boy into a mor edimensional *** kicker..
