It's really hard to recommend a SPECIFIC game, because everyone likes something different. Check out http://mmohut.com for an enormous list of these free mmorpg / mmo games. I use that site to find new games to play. Every week I try a new game =) - It's a lot of fun. They have like every single MMORPG categorized nicely with reviews, screenshots, videos and more. Heck they even list the game's system requirements =p. Best part is all the games are free, which rocks.



They list all the big non-download MMORPGs too on their browser game section.

Lord of the Rings Online (best RPG community I know of on the RP server & very active GMs there)

Fallen Earth (pretty much your only choice for post-apocalptic MMO)

EVE Online (best SciFi MMO out there)



Single player RPGs:

The Witcher

Mass Effect 1 & 2

Fallout 3

Oblivion

Risen

Gothic 1 & 2 + Night of the Raven (screw Gothic 3)
