Question:
WoW: Mist of Pandaria or SW: The Old Republic ?!?

I have to decide what I will play in 2012. My WoW subsciption is frozen from just before Firelands and I've been looking forward to SWTOR for quite some time. However, I don't think I would have the time to play both and I would rather focus on one. WoW is my favourite game so far, but I was kinda bored with it and that's why I cancelled my subsciption. Hoping that MoP will get things interesting again though so wondering whether to play it.
Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast, Jedi Academy and KOTOR 1 and KOTOR 2 are also in my top 10 favourite games though and there will be so new stuff for the MMO genre in SWTOR and I want to play through both factions story at least once. However, I will also have to buy a new PC to play it and its not officially released in my country.
Can you give me what your decision will be and the reasons behind it, if you were in my shoes?
Please no video games haters!!!

It's a fact that WoWs subscription numbers have been on a steady decline. Blizzards new expansion will not remedy that problem. Unfortunately, the panda race seems to be alienating most of the WoW population.

You can tell it's bad when the lead developer of Blizzard has to explain over and over and over: "No, the panda race is NOT a joke. We're being serious. Why won't anyone take us seriously?."

Then you have a blatant ripoff of Pokemon. This isn't anything new with Blizzard. They haven't actually developed anything new or original since 2003. EVERY feature introduced into the game has been proven to be ripped off from other MMOs. This new expansion doesn't introduce anything fresh or new except pandas.

You have THAT to look forward to in WoW, or you have SW the Old Republic. Seems like an easy choice there.

It sounds like you are going through the same motions I was going through.

I've been playing WoW for years but since Cataclysm I just lost interest to the point of cancelling my subscription. The announcement of the new expansion to WoW didn't fill me with any hope. To me it was a facepalm moment.

I tried playing Rift because a lot of my friends liked it but it was essentially a WoW clone, and not in a good way so I stopped playing that very quickly.

I've been looking at SWTOR for quite some time now and the game looks amazing. I would recommend buying it and giving it a go during the month free trial. If you like it then carry on playing it, if you don't then play the new WoW expansion.

The way I see it, every MMO will essentially end up being a grindfest. So if I'm going to be grinding for gear/gold then I might as well do it holding a Lightsabre ^ ^

Do you really like WOW? Or are you addicted to WOW? Think about it. You are bored with a game, which is natural, but you want to buy the newest expansion for what reason? While a portion of the game is growing most of the game will still be the same. WOW gains a few levels and perhaps one new cool thing to do but it is still the same game that you grew bored playing. You think it makes sense to spend another 40 dollars on an expansion that will not greatly improve the game plus another six months subscription. Does that sound like affection for the game or addiction to the game? It sounds like addiction to me. There are a number of new and pretty decent free to play MMORPG's that are WOW like yet you didn't even consider choosing between one of these and the old republic. Your focus is only on WOW. I've been sucked in by the desire to join in on the fun with gamer friends and play wow but I played it for one month and realized I didn't like it. What's interesting when a new expansion came out twice now I have considered purchasing them. Why? Because something about WOW is addictively alluring even if the gameplay and plot are rather shallow and that is the community. The people are pretty cool. But the one thing that mabe WOW's saving grace for me will definitely be found in Star Wars the old republic, it will also have a great and large community. Plus it's a new game, one that has not bored me yet. I would only be more likely to buy the WOW expansion if it was somehow a newer better version of Warcraft 2 or 3. Warcraft has served its purpose and has been a long enjoyable for most people career but it's old clanky and there are newer and better games on the horizon, it's about time to retire your Orc and become a Jedi
