My game was starting to slow down so I tried deleting the cache files but that didn't help. I browsed through the other files and found one called "ObjectThumbnails.package" in the thumbnails folder that's 107MB.
I exceed system requirements by the way so that's not the problem.

The CASThumbnails.package and ObjectThumbnails.package in the Thumbnails folder are among the few files that CAN be safely deleted.
The game will regenerate whichever of those files it needs, so it's normal for them to reappear the next time you run the game. You can check here for more info on which files can be safely deleted (it's basically just the caches and thumbnails) - http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Remove_TS3_Custom_Content#Cache_Files_.26_Thumbnails
As for the actual problem of your game running slow, you can help make sure it's running at its best by trying some of the suggestions here: http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Improving_Sims_3_Performance :)

There has been several problems with installing the Sims 3. The thumbnails.package Error is a result of either corrupt data or missing information. You can try to manually install the sims 3 via a torrent site, though I would recommend to completely uninstall the sims 3 from your computer using the following method. 1) Delete the game directory out of C:/programs/Electronic Arts/The Sims3 2) Now delete the registry entries of sims 3 in your registry: - Start --> Run - Enter "REGEDIT" and confirm with "ENTER KEY" - Now a window with the registry editor should open - Then you have to open the following folders: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\... entVersion\Uninstall\ In the last folder "uninstall" should be the key: {C05D8CDB-417D-4335-A38C-A0659EDFD6B8} - Delete this key - After doing so also delete the following folders: - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\Sims\The Sims 3 - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Sims... - After that you can close the registry editor. If, for whatever reason there should be no key file at: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Wi... entVersion\Uninstall\ or folder called EA at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ -Try manually removing the entry out of the uninstall manager where you would normally uninstall the game, instead of "uninstall" click remove. After that simply run a registry cleaner like ccleaner or tuneup utilities and you should be able to simply reinstall your game. If that does not work, return your disc to the place you bought it and demand your money back or a new copy. Hope this helps
