If I change a file extension on a video from .flv to .aac then will it work on a PS3?

Question

I downloaded a video which was a .flv which of course doesn't work on a PS3, so I tried to convert it but none of the conversion programs worked so i've just re-downloaded the file and changed the file extension to .aac which I know does work. But I'm just checking to be sure.

AVI, MPG, MP4 work on PS3's, AAC is an audio codec.

You can't just change the file extension, you need a video converter to change the video formats.
