Who else is having freezing issues with F3? The normal version was ok and it very rarely froze, now it freezes every hour (pretty much), sometmes it kicks back after about 20 seconds or so but most of the time I have to switch it off. It cant be the disk because a friend had no problems and downloaded all the DLC and he's getting these issues all of a sudden and will refuse to play it.

Its a shame cause F3 is an awesome game and these freezing issues pull the game down.

Anyone else having these issues?

This is a well known problem that unfortunately Bethesda Softworks is not owning up to. I did not get the GOTY but downloaded the DLC and it started happening right from Broken Steel. I think it is the new content that caused the problem. But I can't even travel the regular wasteland anymore without major lags and freezes several times an hour. The DLCs ruined the whole game for me.

It sounds like some people don't have issues who started new games but not conclusive.

Yes Fallout 3 freezes pretty often, i had mine freeze every other day. However i noticed when playing the DLC on the GOTY edition the DLC would freeze easily once every hour. I bought it from gamestop & returned it 3 days later becuase the DLC's were just unplayable. However downloading the DLC's & playing them with a non GOTY edition disc seemed to not freeze nearly as much. So it could have been my GOTY disc, i never got another one to test that theroy though. The game was & is awesome. Catn wait for New Vegas baby! Edit: To add on what Adidas said (which he is aboslutely right) save often, I would also suggest having multiple save states. I had 3 different save states with Fallout3, i would cycle through the saves every time anything happened, once i got done with a lengthy mission i would update all the saves at once. Multiple saves also come in handy in case one of them gets curroted somehow. I got a curropted save state once & thank god i had two others that were only like an hour beforehand. Or else i would have lost like 60+ hours.

I'm having a very similar issue. My collector's edition of F3 had no problems at all. (At most, it slowed down a bit during VATS.) But with the GOTY edition, the rate it freezes at varies. Sometimes it happens during VATS and I get a critical hit; other times, it seems to freeze when loading a new area.

same here what I do is after every major event or after a certain distance traveled or after doing a mission I save because this freezing really messes you up when you do a whole lot
