Thoughts on World of Warcraft Cataclysm?

to be honest it attracts only new players to the game. most of those elite well rounded players who've been around since classic's first release are feeling a mighty blow. there are some major decreases in game difficulty to cultivate newcomers to the series.

personally i started playing last year. i went to Aion and then back. I found WoW to be more player friendly and more enjoyable regardless of Aion's beauty. I"m less than 30 levels away from 80 in my main and I have so much to do so Cataclysm might strike a possible interest with me.

Cataclysm "coolness" I believe is a final add to the franchise before MS and BE have their newest MMORPG game up and running. WoW will be still running but the new game will strike even more interest.

Edit: My point proven with Jacob's answer.

I think its going to bring alot of life back to the old world of azeroth which will be great.

Redesigning and adding new, better and more streamlined quests to the old zones is going to give many players reasons to reroll a new character.

I think its good that they didnt decide to put in a new class, it does affect the balance of the game by alot and they end up spending the first few months of the expansion just trying to get everybody back on an evenish level.

Worgen sounds like an awesome new class with decent racials. Goblins sound like they have awesome racials too but as a race i think i would just be annoyed if i had to hear those voices ALL THE TIME. (i hate going to the banks and auction houses as it is)

Flying in azeroth will be a nice feature, but I dont think its cause to leap around with joy.

I wish they had upped level cap up to 90, but hey 85 is good enough i spose.

I am really looking foward to rerolling a new char in the expansion, (possibly a worgen).

Its gunna be freaking sweet!

You can fly anywhere!!!

freaking epic graphic updates!!

Gnomes can be priests and such, races are getting new classes thats gunna be leet badassness, worgens and goblins will be great, iv been wondering when blizz would come out with goblin race.

Worgen should be Horde.

Frickin noob goblins should be Alliance.

Goblins are going to look gay with horde.

Worgen Rogues are going to look amazing!!!

I wish they would just come out with an expansion that has a level cap that goes to 100!!! I'M TIRED OF HAVING TO PAY $50 EVERY TIME THEY COME OUT WITH A NEW EXPANSION. lol

I like the idea of having new race/class combos, and even having some new races....but honestly i do not like the fact that they are changing basically the whole layout of the old world. I think its great as is, and its so familiar and they're going to change everything...i just dont like it... =/

Word on the street is November 2, 2010. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if it came out just a little later, but imo it's definitely being released in November.

It's going to be incredibly awesome, whether or not I decide to play it after I quit a few months ago.

I like the idea of non-crappy water, flying mounts in Azeroth, and even the lava cracks everywhere. But Cataclysm most likely won't have the impact that WotLK did. Blizz is simply running out of incredible ideas.

I think it looks pretty awesome.

Except I am pretty bummed out that the Allies get the Worgen.

Dumb Goblins. :(

Well what I think about it is...... The world would never be the same. It would have fire everywhere. But unfortunatly it's not out yet. I want it bad. Even though i'm trial but i'm buying the game. Two new races!!

Horde- Goblins

Alliance- Werog (Werewolf type)

Personally I think it should be the other way around. Because Alliance has lots of little people. Werog is a beast like Horde. So the Werog should be Horde. So if anyone thinks i'm right comment this answer. But it's just my oppinon. People can think what they want! But you know what I say? I don't care! This is just what I say.

I think it’s going to be nice.

- Deathwing is going to be an actual threat. (Unlike the other WoW villains. Even Arthas was only a short threat. Within a few months the Horde and Alliance were at his doorstep and set up a tournament for FUN.) Plus Deathwing is possibly the coolest character in all of WoW lore.

- Leveling a new character will be really interesting again with all the world changes. Plus the quest rewards will probably be updated to make more sense. (Better itemization of stats, like in Outlands and beyond.)

- Flying mounts in Azeroth! About time, too!

- I’m interested to see how my main class (Hunter) is going to work with no more mana.

- Goblins and Worgen are both cool! My Orc Hunter may become a Goblin when they allow for switching.

- The past expansions and changes have mostly been positive. I do miss raiding Molten Core in the ‘old days’ but I think I’m also looking at it through rose-colored-glasses. The game is better now, and will probably continue to improve!

whenever i think about cataclysm, all i think about is all the people who say WoW was at it's best pre-BC, and this and blizzard made cataclysm for the sole purpose of accommodating all of the pre BC lovers

this is my conspiracy theory anyhow, and honestly the idea of using flying mounts in azeroth is awesome. i'm going to do my best not to play it though, because i have successfully got un addicted to wow recently, but i will probably make a worgen DK on a friends account for shits and giggles

the only thing cool about this new expansion is the 2 new races, otherwise it is terrible, i was a huge fan of pre-bc, but the game is fine right now, remaking old territories and raising the level cap is a bad choice

ok first some background i am a warcraft player and got wow 1 month after release played it until last summer i quit due to the state of the game(imo).

so first of all classic wow was incredibly epic (as in large and breath taking) . When i first started the game i was drawn in so much that it became one of the most memorable game experiences ive ever had. by the time i hit 60 in the summer of 2005 i had had so much fun that I prepaid 6 months in advance! This view of wow continued for me until patch 1.12 when pvp gear was release for honor at a grind that was much to short and made the legendary high warlord and Grand Marshall gear seem like candy on Halloween. Shortly after 1.12 the burning crusade hit shelves.

BC was not as awesome or imaginative as azeroth or pre bc wow. But it was not the end of the world it was a change to a more casual and

stable wow. this was continued until the end of this expansion when they release easier black temple no attunements and tons of other casuallized ( made that up) BS.

Then WOTLK hit like a brick in my head. very plain lvling zones one lush zone for who knows what reason... in wc3 i don't remember any reference to a lush plant area on northrend but w/e. then i hit 80 and with in 2 weeks had full epics from ten/ 25 man naxx WTF!?!?!? in pre bc wow took me at least 3 months to get full epics.so wahoo i got gear so retardedly fast and then soon enough got so bored with pve. none of the bosses in naxx or EoE wowed me at all like the mc and bwl bosses did even ZG had more epic bosses. Just feels like the new contents not original and is all to bland.

now to cataclysm so now all these ppl who joined in late are gonna run the content that was epic at the time and required lots of preparation and time in prolly 3-6 weeks they'll clear mc 3-5 weeks to clear bwl and similar times for aq 20/40. my problem with wow and with this and i am almost sure the next expansion is the passion in making this an epic journey is gone its more a social game about hopin on vent chatin it up and killing some bosses along the way. also some of the class combos are flippin retarded. i will not buy this and i will not play wow anymore just not the same game i signed up for and has changed to fit the needs of the populace more then the fans of the warcraft series. just my 2 cents

i think that just like the other expan its gona ruin the game further and becuase of how bad wow and warcraft 3 has gotten i will never play another blizzard game again

Wow is a waste of time.. The whole game can be described with one single phrase "rinse and repeat".
