The average age of someone who plays games is 31 years old. In fact, more gamers are over the age of 36 than between the ages of 18 to 35 or under the age of 18. They are also mostly men, but by a slimming margin. Men make up 52 percent.

I think most people born in the 80s and after will be gamers until old age tbh. Its as normal as watching tv or listening to music now. I'm 28 and cant see a time where I wont want to play games anymore.
2016-02-08 05:54:29 UTC
I'm now 63 years old and now I love to play so my blood will circulate again.

But some will tell story like this one which is normal:

There is no such thing as being too old for gaming. The average age is actually about mid 30s so there are plenty of people of all age ranges playing.

I'm mid 40s and like nothing better than gaming. I've known people in their 60s who like gaming as well. My gran was in her 80s when she had her first go on a game. She had a blast!

As long as you enjoy gaming there is no reason to stop. Ok we may not necessarily have as much time sometimes as we may have when we were younger, but no reason to completely stop. If you don't enjoy gaming any more, fair enough. But otherwise, age is not a factor.

Really? Yes there are more important things in life than gaming but if thats what a person enjoys to do with "SOME" of their spare time, it would be nobodys business and I can guarantee you that almost all people that belittle other people for being an older gamer have more serious issues than spending a little time gaming. I never could understand why someone would belittle someone for gaming as they sit back for example and drink a half gallon of booze, or beat on their spouse or kids, cant keep a job, do drugs, etc... These people obviously some of them have mental health issues if they can judge someone just because they play a video game... I dont play enough to call myself a gamer but I do enjoy playing my PS4 with my girlfriends kids or my nephew and **** nieces... Game on like its nobody's business BECAUSE IT ISN'T.

No age is too old to be a gamer. I'm going on 20 and still game, as do I play drums and watch movies. No shame.
2016-02-08 05:36:14 UTC
I'm 29. I took a break from video games for a bit (24-27) and now I'm back into them. There is no such thing as being too old for winding down at the end of the game or just having some fun. You have to remember, it's adults who make the video games. :)

The thing I find kind of cool is a lot of people I knew when I was younger and in grade school, who have kids now, are playing video games with their kids and stuff. :P Anyone can play video games. My mom is 64 and she still plays RPGs on the playstation 4...lol. Every single day, because she thinks it's fun. :P

Anyway, if you just don't feel like it then don't. People's interests and hobbies can change. If you want to play video games later on though, do it! And don't feel guilty about it or weird. I don't know one person who doesn't secretly watch movies and cartoons from when they were younger. :P Just do what makes you happy.

There is no real age that is to old to be a gamer. It can depend how attached to a game you are for several reasons. Or how stimulating you find current games, no shame of maturing out of it.

Most mainstream games are aimed a children and adults in their 30-40's.

I work in the industry (I can't say for who without giving a legal disclaimer since these comments are unofficial) and we were given a figure at a recent meeting stating that the average gamer is now somewhere between 30-35 years old. Take that for what it's worth.

In actuality, a bunch of us prefer that many people play games and we don't want to set any kinds of limits on that! One of our big wigs is like 70 and he plays in his office all the time. So please, play on!

I personally think no age is too old to be a gamer. When you mature and become an adult , there is less time to be engulfed in video games. I'm still young so my opinion may not matter compared to someone who has experience, but I think when you grow, your attention shifts to more important things going on in life.
?

I think people who don't aren't mentally capable of playing. Because Kevin Spacy plays and on House of Cards he uses Battlefield: Frontline to explain that violence is a good tool for relaxing.

If the leader of the House and the Vice President who eventually may become President uses videogames to assist mental thought processes.

Then that means, people who don't play are mentally limited in some way. I think videogames are a healthy way to cope with extreme problem solving.

Now some games you might have an age limit. Like the lego games. Or a stupidity boundry like with Destiny (if you played it, you got conned into playing it some how). But personally I think there should be limits on younger players. Not on everything. But specifically having access to using the mics in public matches on online multiplayer. That should be an online revoking penalty and charge through the isp to the parents.
2016-02-13 07:48:43 UTC
I wouldn't put an age on playing video games because they are good fun regardless of your age , however , as you get older you have priorities and responsibilities that should come before sitting on a computer all day .. your life should be about earning a living and settling down with someone .. gaming should then just become a bit of fun when you can manage some spare time.

There really is no such thing. It's more like, you start off playing casually as a kid, you become notably more competitive somewhere in your teens, adulthood merely means that your not playing nonstop anymore and most undoubtedly have a bigger game collection, by mid to late 30's you'll start to expect any games you get to meet a certain standard and fit your tastes, there on you'll probably have a series of favorites and are primarily concerned mainly with those. It never really dies, it just changes.

For each generation, there is a unique way of entertainment. This generation's entertainment is video games, smartphones, social media, etc. My personal opinion on this is once you hit 35 you should stop playing video games so people could view you as a mature man. But the thing about this statement is we can never know what might come in the future ( for example, a video game dedicated to elderly). I am not saying video games are bad' it really depends on what type of games you play, for example, some video games really help memory and concentration. You could still play video games after your 35 but just don't play as much.

In summary No real limit but you should lower video game time after 35.

Mate PewDiePie will be 27 this year, I'm 17 and I'm sure I'll be gaming till I physically can't do it anymore. The stereotype that used to be associated with gamers has pretty much disapeared now with the rise of YouTubers, twitch and E-sports. Embrace it and more importantly have fun!

There is no such thing as being "too old" to be a gamer PROVIDED THAT:

1) You prioritize real life.

2) You prioritize real life.

3) You don't turn down human interaction for the sake of a game.

4) You take care of your responsibilities.

5) You seek other forms of education, entertainment, and interaction to be a well-rounded individual.

6) You recognize the difference between reality and fantasy.

7) You NEVER turn down a woman for a game.

8) You don't babble on and on about games as if they are super-important.

and

9) You prioritize real life.

I don't believe there's a certain "cut-off" age to gaming, that's the beauty of it. Just think: what other medium spans all ages? Movies? Yes, to a certain extent. Literature? I wish it would. But gaming has so much variety and so many genres that it appeals to all ages, both sexes and all socio-economic levels. :)

I don't think there really should be an age limit to when you would be "too old" to play video games. We're millennials and we grew up/growing up with technology. I can see myself being old and still playing cool video games. Why not? (Unless you'd want to add in health concerns)

18. By this age you should be either at college or working and spending your free time out with friends and or a girlfriend, not all alone in front of a screen with weirdos online you never met. In fact no one of any age should be doing that.
